Learned the hard way that you don't have to contact seller to get a return
I didn't realize and started a return and then stopped it which hosed me. The seller now is playing dumb and saying they don't know how to do a return label. WHAT?? I called Ebay and got great customer service, but nothing they can do since I stopped the return. UGH! Luckily, it's just a $9 mistake, but lesson learned. I'll be leaving feedback accordingly, but a bummer that now the power is taken away from Ebay stepping into help on these kinds of issues.

A seller is only able to provide a shipping label while a return request is open. Your seller isn’t ‘playing dumb’.
And you probably won’t be able to leave the seller bad feedback if you didn’t win the claim.

OP2 years agoI was able to leave feedback with no issue, but the seller was able to comment after my feedback. Ebay has changed that policy (since a few years ago) and lesson learned. Not a big deal and just a $10 mistake on my side. I did leave feedback accordingly. If sellers say they provide refunds, then maybe pointing out that it has to be done through Ebay and not them might be nice to add. (to help older user's out) Though I know it's my bad for not following through with the refund.

·2 years agoThat is unfortunate that this seller burned you. Lesson learned. With returns as you stated, you do not have to contact them at all if you do not want to. Open up a return and you can forget about it. (obviously after you ship it back and it is resolved)
Personally i always like to reach out to the seller to at least let them know of the issue and sometimes they can help resolve an issue without doing a return. (user error problems, general education about the item) Yes there are some Sellers that will play dumb and will outright lie to you. You still can open the return and be covered under the MBG if you qualify. Either way you have the right not to contact them at all after your purchase.

OP2 years agoYes ~ it's a cheap lesson. I would've shipped back on my dime as we're both East Coast, but whatever. They said they tried to send me a label, but couldn't figure it out. I don't know if I believe that, but again, I didn't know of the new policy, so next time I'll follow the correct steps. Like you, I felt that reaching out to them first was the BEST course, but when I stopped the return (my bad) I closed my opportunity to get a return completed. If it had been for a bigger amount of $$, I would've taken further steps, but it is not worth my time and energy to try to regain like $16 total back. My time is worth more than that. HA!

·2 years agoYou only get 1 shot at a return and if you canceled the return, nothing else you can do on Ebay.
If you paid through Pay Pal, you can open a case with them, but you'll have to pay return shipping.
