Item says "Returned" despite it not being shipped back to seller
Hello.
I an issueed a return before the package in question was delivered to my house. Once it arrived, I was asked to purchase a shipping label. I think I made a mistake and now the status assumes that the package was already sent back to the seller.
I just a got a refund, but I still have every intention os actually returning it to the seller.

I think I made a mistake during the process, and it now looks like the item was already sent back to you. I just received a refund, but I still have the item with me.
I want to return the item properly and honestly. Please let me know how you would like me to proceed.

If the seller issued a refund without your having to send it back or take further action, it's because he doesn't want the item back or it's too expensive to pay return shipping to get it back.
As long as you have the refund, you've been made whole. You don't have to do anything.

·8 months agoIt sounds like you just changed your mind on the item you ordered since you filed to return the item BEFORE it was delivered. Return shipping is to be paid by YOU since you chose that .

The seller is located in China and wouldn't have been able to issue a return shipping label. You would have had to find out the return shipping cost and have the seller send you the money through Paypal before shipping back.
And because tracked shipping to China is expensive (from the US), he probably decided that it's not cost effective to pay return shipping to get it back.
Just do what you want with the item since you've been refunded.

OP8 months ago@albertabrightalberta Thank you for the answer. It's what I feared about the most about returning the package to China. It was the cost. I didn't know what else to do, as I've never returned a Chinese import before. I tried using SpeedX as my carrier, but that might've been the cause of all of this. I might just give it away, but I still want the return the money that's about to be refunded back to me.
@bonjourami We communicated before this post. I'm just waiting for his response.

·8 months agoIf you do hear from the seller and are inclined to buy a label to get it back to him, make sure that the seller's 'Return to' address is not different than the address you see on your shipping label. Godspeed.

It might not be worth it for them to cover the return shipping for a defective item.
