Item advertised as new was broken

I purchased a watch advertised as new with tags. As soon as I put it on the clasps came off and made the watch unwearable. The clasps appear to be old and frail. I notified the seller who now finally confirms that he sent the replacement clasps 1.5 months later and by regular post rather than express. I paid for a watch in new condition but received a watch with a defective band and will now have to see if I can even replace the clasps myself or will have to pay a professional to do it. It has been more than 30 days which I understand is the eBay return policy.

What can I do. Not only did I pay for a new watch but received one with defective clasps on the watch band and have been waiting for a month and half. I am also not sure if I will be able to have the defective clasps replaced without paying someone.

In the future, do not wait to open a case. If it broke "as soon as you put it on," you notified the seller and didn't get resolution within 30 days of receipt, you should have opened a not as described (NAD) return request.

If you want to have the clasps replaced, you'll have to pay for it yourself.

If Money back guarantee return time has passed , then file a charge back with the payment source used to pay for the doohickey. Most credit cards allow up to 180 days to file.
