Is the high value team on holiday??
I’ve had a case open with eBay since January 12th for a high value item that I had returned with postage receipt, confirmation from Australia post it was delivered within 2 days of being sent off on January 5th. Today is February 2nd and I’ve been told the case has been closed in my favour multiple times but that the case is under review with the “high value†team since it was >A$2300 and been told multiple times to “wait 24-48 hours†since January 15th when I started chasing the company up on this. I’ve done nothing wrong, the item has been returned with receipts, and I’m still out of pocket here on a lot of money. What do I do? Do I start a chargeback process with my credit card? I feel like I’ve given eBay a long time to sort this out but it’s been nothing but stress and stress.

You are in the UK; if you shipped an item back to a seller in Australia on Jan 5, how in the world did it get 'delivered' in 2 days?

·7 months agoThere's a "high value team" on eBay?

·7 months agoWhen you returned this item, had you opened a return request first?

OP7 months agoYes, and when the seller refused to give me my refund after I messaged them, I asked eBay to step in. They closed the case in my favour after I provided all receipts and confirmation from Aus post the item was returned. Still pending high value team “sign off†after almost two weeks.

·7 months agoThere's either something missing here or something not quite right. When/if a buyer opens an NAD case with eBay, and there's no response from the seller in three days, on day #4 the buyer returns to the case and asks eBay to step in. The buyer is then refunded from the seller's funds and can keep the item.
Don't exactly understand the "high value team" part of this, but I no longer sell and rarely buy any more, so I guess I could've missed something.

·7 months agoI’ve seen this happen before @soh.maryl. There must be some unwritten amount of purchase price where eBay sends a shipping label despite there being no response from the seller to a return request.
It kind of makes sense in case the seller is undergoing an emergency … but a buyer needs to be given a date on which to count on receiving a refund.
Hi @foyajifu
I would start thinking about contacting your credit card company this week.

·7 months agoSo you think there might be a "high value team"? Since this is the first I've ever heard of it, wonder what the price level is where eBay will step in with a situation like this.
PS: And now that I've seen the OP's location, am wondering if this is something only available for eBay UK members.

OP7 months agoFYI this is the info I’ve received from them, so it appears there is a special team but they don’t seem to be good at their jobs! Or they’re just wasting my time and they don’t exist!
Thankyou for writing back to us. I really appreciate your patience here. iI can see that the case has been closed after you submitted required documents and it is currently being reviewed by our specialized team now for final review. Please be informed that since this is a high value transaction (>$750 OR equivalent in local currency), this needs to approve by our specialized team. This team does not take direct customer contacts and cannot be transferred to. We will update you once we’ve reviewed the details of the case.
We appreciate your patience here.
Rest assured that your funds are safe with us. Please feel free to reach out to us in case of any help.
I am confident the solution we’ve provided will successfully address your current concern and enhance safeguards against future occurrences. Thank you for contacting me on eBay. Have a wonderful day.
Kind Regards,
Manindra S.

·7 months agoThere's still something strange here. If the "case has been closed" but "it is currently being reviewed", does that make sense?

·7 months agoI haven’t heard of a ‘high value team’. What I’ve heard of is eBay handling high value items differently than less expensive items.
The term may well be a UK thing … or maybe just made up by the agent. 🤷â€

OP7 months agoThank you that’s helpful. It’s a shame that it’s ruined my experience with eBay.
