International shipment - Item not as described - who pays shipping?
So this is just a guestion as there isn't actual problem, but back in the days when I bought stuff from China and it was not as described I was told by eBay to ship it back and pay for the shipping myself which of course would't make any sense financially. Instead I sold the item for parts in my country.
What is the situation nowadays, if buyer claims that the item is not as described, who pays the international shipping?

·3 years agoAccording to ebay rep I spoke to today . The seller is responsible for return ship costs if the buyer files a successful NOT AS DESCRIBED claim . And this means that the ZERO RETURN COST seller protection ebay is touting with their new International Ship program is FULL OF HOLES . Not as described claims void any protections and means the seller would have to bear the full cost of shipping from another country back to the USA . BTW they auto enrolled everyone in this program without letting us know first . I suggest opting out for your own protection if you are a seller.

·3 years agoThe answer that the rep gave you is if the seller is NOT using ebay international shipping. If the seller sends the item directly to the buyer and a nad claim is filed, the seller is responsible for return shipping. If the seller uses ebay international shipping, then ebay handles the return, not the seller.
note..the original poster is in Finland so if they are selling on eBay, they have to ship directly to their buyers. There is no 'ebay shipping' from Finland.

·3 years agoThe seller is responsible for return shipping. They can't send a return label for China but they would need to send the money to pay for shipping to your preferred method before you send the item back.
