International Return Automatically Closed by Ebay
I purchased a video game that was complete in box that upon arrival had some damage to the box and so I wanted to return it. I asked the seller for additional pictures and could not really see the damage on the box even though it was in the photograph. The seller offers no question returns, so I opted for the reason "I did not like the item" because I didnt think it was fair to make the seller pay retun shipping because I did not notice the damage on the item. Issue is, that I initiated a return through ebay, I retuned the item in the alloted time and Ebay states I should have receieved a refund today. What actually happened was that ebay closed the case and said I am not eligible for a refund without stating a reason why. So now, I am out the returned Item, the money for the returned Item and the additional postage I paid out of pocket to return the item. Is it no longer safe to make international purchases on ebay? Why would ebay override the seller return policy?

OP2 years agoHere are some of the screenshots I saved, I removed seller information per the forum rules. I finally got ahold of someone at eBay and they stated that I should have listed the return as “not as described†but I notified them that the seller offers no hassle returns, so why would a refund be denied and they had no good answer for me. She did offer to appeal it on the back end and hopefully someone will reach out soon. I think there’s a loophole here that eBay needs to addressed. If an item is non-returnable users shouldn’t be able to start a return, and if this is not the case then the team that monitors these international returns cases has to do a better job of looking at the information in front of them.

OP2 years agoIt was definitely returned within the correct time frame, and yes I did upload my tracking information and it shows that the return was received by the seller on the ebay returns page.

·2 years agoSo, you've gotten conflicting messages from eBay. First refund is coming, then not coming. No surprise ... eBay is a chaotic operation.
eBay is going to try to do the refund to your original payment method. I would assume that the refund will show up shortly on your original payment method, but it can take some time for that to happen. If not, you can file a charge-back with your credit card. Make sure that you are taking screen-shots of all the eBay return information so that you are armed with information.
You might also reach out to the original seller to see if he/she initiated the refund, and if they noticed any issues on their end.

·2 years agoProbably had to do with some type of time frame. ..responding to the return or something.
It's a remorse return..."I did not like the item"...which you have to pay for return shipping...not the seller.
So even if you didn't mark the correct return...probably eBay did it for you.
And tracking has to be downloaded in a reasonable time frame..."I returned the item in the alloted time"...then I would think the seller might refund you maybe through Pay Pal maybe if they received it. Couldn't hurt to contact the seller. Some sellers can be quite nice.

·2 years agoDid you provide a tracking number to eBay? If eBay doesn't see any activity on the return request, it may close it automatically after 15 days.
