INR opened but sent to address eBay said to.
Summary: momtoabeautifuldaughter shared that a buyer opened an INR case because the package was undeliverable at the address provided by the buyer through eBay, which is required for seller protection. The buyer later claimed a different address in messages. kensgiftshop advised uploading the tracking number, while christworks reassured momtoabeautifuldaughter that as long as the seller followed eBay's process, they are protected. glenvonnie suggested adding the tracking number again. momtoabeautifuldaughter confirmed shipping to the original address from eBay and was advised to wait for eBay to resolve the case automatically.
Okay here's the deal I had a buyer open an INR case. I shipped to the address on their payment like I am required by eBay to do to have seller protection. It says addressee unknown at this address on the tracking.
In the messages on the buyers INR case they said my address is.............. and gave an address in the same state but completely different town. They said I have received other packages at this address so I don't know why my package is being returned.
I put a message on the case saying that I shipped to the address on their payment and quoted the address provided to me......do I need to do anything else?

·1 week agoClarify one thing...you said you shipped "to the address they gave you," and you "shipped to the address on their payment..."does all this mean you printed the shipping label on eBay with the provided address, regardless of any address the buyer may have giving you later?
momtoabeautifuldaughter
OP1 week agoYes, I printed the label straight from eBay with the address on their payment.
This other address was never mentioned until they opened the INR case and in the case they gave a different address.

·1 week agoOk, then all you need to do is respond by entering the tracking number to the case when eBay asks. I would think the address issue would only need to be addressed in a charge back situation or an appeal. But typically, eBay is just verifying that tracking shows delivered to the zip code

Since I shipped to address on their payment and they gave different address in the case only will I win?

·2 weeks ago@momtoabeautifuldaughter As long as you shipped to the address provided by the buyer at the time of the order, you are good and you uploaded the tracking number to the INR, even if it is there, you are good. Sellers are not responsible for buyers who use the wrong address.
The buyer may try to engage with you in messages either while the INR is open or after they lose. I do not recommend engaging with them. They will drain your time and your energy. Seller protections do little good if a seller does not simply accept them and move on.

OP2 weeks agoWill case automatically close in my favor or do I need to contact eBay? Sorry I rarely get cases opened against me so this is kind of new territory for me.
christworks
·2 weeks ago@momtoabeautifuldaughter There isn't anything for you to do. Definitely do not contact eBay or ask them to step in. It will automatically close after eBay rules on the INR. Sit tight.
