In a pickle thanks to CS reps
So about 2 weeks a buyer opened a return for 6 items he bought at once (quantity) claiming defective so I inquired about how they were being used when the buyer said it was only 2 potentially defective they wanted to return. I explained they opened it for all 6 and if they'd close the return I'd just refund for the 2 and eventually get my return label cost. Well they responded saying they contacted eBay and was told I'd have no problem only refunding for 2 despite the return for all 6. I told them that's not true and gave them my 2 options, if he sends 2 back I have to refund in full for all 6 or deduct 50% off the total for all 6 in which case the buyer paid for 3 and got 4 (plus I lose all fees and shipping both ways).
The buyer will no longer respond and something has been shipped back, my last message suggested they send all back for a full refund bc that's really all I can do. Perhaps everyone can verify that customer service reps lie all the time to get you off the phone and I'll link them this post?
I don't know what to do, I really don't want to lose $130,shipping both ways and donate 4 good ones to the buyer bc they made a mistake.

OP3 years agoI have no option to send a partial , probably bc I already sent a label. That was my first thought when realizing they wanted to return 2 but made the return for 6...
They still haven't responded, I guess it's supposed to be a surprise rather they send back 2 and get a full refund or send back 6,get a full refund and I probably don't know which 2 allegedly have issues (I told them I can't test the beyond power).
I'm leery about the whole thing bc I bought these as retired working equipment, he bought 6 of the 30+ I sold and out of all them he somehow gets 2 faulty ones? Who knows...
Thanks eBay for not training your reps and allowing them to openly lie...

·3 years agoYou can go to the Returns dashboard and offer a partial refund for the two items. If they accept it they don't have to return anything and that resolves the case.
