Improvement Suggestion for Industrial Equipment Return Cases
Hello eBay Team,
I would like to submit a professional suggestion regarding the return system for industrial and high-value equipment.
Currently, when a buyer opens a return request, the process only supports refunds and returns. However, many sellers of industrial equipment often have replacement units available and would prefer to resolve issues through a controlled replacement process instead of immediate refunds.
I would like to suggest adding a seller-controlled replacement option within the return case workflow.
Suggested process:
1. Buyer opens a return request normally.
2. Seller can choose either:
- standard return/refund
- or replacement option (only if inventory is available).
3. If the seller selects replacement:
- seller uploads a prepaid return shipping label.
- buyer returns the original item first.
4. Once the seller receives the returned item:
- seller can inspect the unit,
- verify original seals, serial numbers, and components,
- and confirm the item was not damaged, altered, or partially swapped.
5. If the returned item passes inspection, the seller ships the replacement unit with expedited shipping.
This system would greatly help:
- industrial equipment sellers,
- electronics sellers,
- high-value inventory sellers,
- and buyers who simply want a working replacement quickly.
It would also help reduce:
- fraudulent part swapping,
- damaged return abuse,
- and unnecessary refund losses.
I believe this feature would create a fairer and more professional resolution system for both buyers and sellers.
I would also appreciate support from other sellers in the community who believe this feature would improve fairness, reduce fraud, and create a more professional return process for both buyers and sellers.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Did you know eBay has a policy against suggestions for the site?
It’s called Unsolicited idea submissions policy.
This is the second thread today on this topic. Both threads are identical perhaps the same seller with 2 different IDs.
