I would like to make a suggestion about the return time
I don't really expect this to happen, but if enough of us asked for it maybe.
On returns, lets get real. Forcing a 30 day return on sellers who sell used or antique items is just plain ridiculous. They used to have it to where we could choose 3 days or even 7 days. They need to bring that back.
I can see the 30 days, (not really) on new items, but not on used or antique. I sell on two other platforms and they both have it to wear a buyer has 3 days to inspect an item. That is more than a fair amount of time.
Maybe even bring back where a seller can charge a restocking fee of up to 20% it really did help cut down on scammers. I only had a few returns that I did honor and did not charge them becuase of my error. I know they have a shorter than 30 day return choice, but ONLY on select catagories. It needs to be on ALL used or antique items not just one or two catagories. I would be more than willing to add returns for not as described if they had a smaller window. For sure never for fit though, since I provide measurements for everything.
what are your thoughts?

·2 years ago@secondscount1 I collect vintage clothing and books as well as patterns, sometimes an item might arrive when I'm not at home to open it within 72 hours. I would never buy from any place that would give me a 72 hour time limit, also sometimes I will have a high volume of packages coming in and don't wish to spend hour after hour opening packages and inspecting them. I might open them all within several days, but I'm not going to be on any short time limit.
I don't understand why you think new clothing should possibly get longer to return than used clothing... what's the difference when a person can wear the used clothing just the same as they can new clothing?
I don't care what a listing says, if I am sent an item that is not as described I'm opening a case if it's something that can't be overlooked. I do tend to overlook a lot of unmentioned flaws because I don't feel like bothering, but I've grown tired of that. I highly doubt you would win...
If people pay with PayPal they get up to 180 days to return, and it's usually that way with credit cards. Other places that only offer 3 days to inspect an item that take PayPal and credit cards can't do anything to stop a buyer from opening a case within 180 days.

·2 years agoFor them to accept credit cards, there's certain terms they have to agree to and one is offering returns.
When I processed payments on one of my sites, I had to offer 30 day returns or I couldn't accept credit cards.
You know the 30 days isn't nothing if they go to Pay Pal or their credit card.

·2 years agowhen was this 3 ay, or 7 day in effect?

·2 years agoWay back before on line payments you could select a return time if you chose to offer returns. Then the early credit card payments came along. Billpoint was one I had before there was a paypal. They set rules for returns and 30 days was required if you wanted to take credit cards. Back then you could still take checks or money orders by snail mail.

·2 years agoI remember when I first signed up or Pay Pal to accept payments on my site, I was required to provide 30 day returns.

@secondscount1
I'll address this ^^^ point. It's policy... so if nothing else, it evens the playing field as we all don't sell antique items.
secondscount1
OP2 years agoyou are missing the point. I am saying that used and antique or vintage items should not have the same return window as brand new. It is ridiculous to give someone 30 days to wear an outfit then return it. They used to have shorter window for used items they should not be grouped in the new item window. We are not, or most of us are not corporate stores

@secondscount1
But those of us selling the outfit have to adhere to the same policy. I wish it wasn't 30 days, but it is. 😑

But have to ask: "I would be more than willing to add returns for not as described . . .:
Are you aware that that feature is not optional? All a buyer has to do is open an NAD case and you, the seller, will be sending a prepaid return label and refunding in full upon receipt of the return. It's an eBay thing, not something a seller can add or subtract.
secondscount1
OP2 years agoyes, I know that is not an option, it is just my policy that I add to my listings that I only do returns for not as described and not because it does not fit. It has helped a lot with returns on clothing. When someone tries to open a NAD case and I have that in my listing ebay has sided with me.
secondscount1
OP2 years agoOr I would like to add, that is what I put when I did accept returns when they had a more reasonable return window like 3 to 7 days now I just say no returns. I will not let someone wear something for a month and then return it. Now it just says sold as is as shown no returns. So far I have not lost a case
soh.maryl
·2 years agoSo, just to clarify, if I bought something from you, but discovered it was flawed (within 30 days) you believe you would be able to refuse to accept my return if I opened an NAD case?
stainlessenginecovers
·2 years agoThat is simply NOT true. Why would you spout such a thing. Did ebay side with you 1 time? That is called a 'goodness of our heart' and trust me- it will NEVER happen again- doesn't matter WHAT you 'state' in your listings.
