I am not willing to pay shipping cost for an item whose description was not clear
Hi.
I have bought an item from ebay which i found out (after buying it) the description was not according to the item specs. Now i want to return the item but i dont want to be charged the shipping return because of the reason above. I have contacted the seller and his answer is the following:
Hello, dear buyer. As your order belongs to cross-border transportation, it has been handed over to the platform for unified processing. Therefore, we are unable to perform any payment related operations on the order. We hope you understand. You can check the latest processing progress through the eBay platform. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let us know and we will do our best to assist you!
and
Hello dear buyer, as this return is processed directly through the eBay platform, we are unable to receive the item you returned and therefore cannot make any adjustments to the payment. You can follow the platform's return guidelines to return the item.
The seller assumed the mistake in the item description ( i have texts proving it) .
I think i have the right not to be charged 50 dollars for shipping return provided the item description was not correct.
Please help me put here.

·5 months agoHi, Agreed with all - Remorse Return = Buyer Pays Return Shipping. Cant' really get around it. So sorry. Good Luck!!

·5 months agoBuying internationally is higher risk than buying in your own country,
Buying from a country where you are not a native speaker of the language is higher risk.
Interpreting the Ebay policy correctly requires a knowledge of common idioms.
Perhaps your payment method (credit card etc) will provide you an opportunity to bypass your error,

OP5 months agoThis is the seller return policy:
30 days returns. Buyer pays for return shipping. If you use an eBay shipping label, it will be deducted from your refund amount.

·5 months agoSince you chose Didn't Fit, you'll have to pay return shipping if you want to return it.

·5 months agoYep, its right there that you pay for the return shipping

OP5 months agoSo i screw it up it seems because i have chosen item doesnt fit instead of not as described.
its deffo not a remorse return and i have texts to prove it. The seller has admitted that he had the discription wrong and he has even written that he has changed it. But he had allready shipped the item to me by then.
Is it possible to reach out to an ebay assistant of something?

·5 months agoYou've already received the item and the seller declined the remorse return? (Yes, you opened the wrong type of claim.)
Does the listing show that returns are or are not accepted? Look at the following examples:
If the listing does show that the seller accepts returns (though it doesn't sound like that's the case), you should be able to return it although you'd have to pay return shipping (unless the listing shows "free" returns) since you opened a remorse claim.
If the listing you purchased shows that the seller doesn't accept returns, you'll have to take the next step and go to your payment provider - paypal, c.c., etc. and open a "not as described" claim.

·5 months agoYou can, but if you already submitted the return for Doesn't Fit, there's nothing CS will do.

If the item was described correctly but just doesn't work for your needs, your "doesn't fit" reason is a remorse return and if the seller doesn't have a return policy, they have the right to refuse the return.
If the item was not correctly described, it's a NAD (not as described) claim and eligible for the MBG (money back guarantee).
Did the seller ship directly to you in Portugal? Or did the seller use EIS (ebay international shipping)?

OP5 months agoI have initiated a return and the reason i have chosen is "item does not fit".
However once im about to finish the return request the refund ammount is less than what i paid for the item, and the following text shows up:
"The return shipping costs will be deducted from your total refund"
And if i cancel the return i wont be able to return it anymore i believe.

Thanks for your help.

“Doesn’t fit”, is a remorse return and buyers pay for remorse returns.
It is too late now to change it to anything else.
It should have been a “doesn’t match description” return.
If you want a refund for this sale, you will have to pay the shipping back to the seller.
International transactions add another level of complexity.

·5 months ago@serbar10 2 things.
1.) 'Doesn't fit' is a 'remorse return' so you pay the return shipping. You needed to use 'not as described' but even then, with an EIS purchase (explained below) I don't know if they pay the return shipping (doubtful)
2.) This item shipped EIS (through the Ebay International Shipping program- enables a seller to sell internationally while just shipping it to a US hub; any 'issues' then belong to EIS and NOT the seller as EIS covers returns etc. and the seller keeps the money for the sale).

·5 months agoIt sounds like you, the buyer, received an item that's not as described. If so, you have the protection of eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers.
Go to your My eBay> Purchase History and click on this transaction.
Click on "want to return". For reason: Not as described.
The seller now has 3 days to send you a prepaid return label if he wants it back. Return it. You should be refunded by the seller. If seller does not respond, you can return to the case you opened on day #4 and eBay will refund you.
You have 30 days after delivery to do this.
Suggestions: 1. Cease all correspondence with the seller. 2. Read the MBG so you will understand how you are protected.
