How to trust a return to a seller who became inactive the day I received a faulty item?
I purchased a battery operated photography flash that was advertized as Open Box. The listing photos showed the battery was included. I just received the item and tried to contact the seller but it says the seller is now inactive, so I can't leave feedback or contact them. I can't even test the item to see if it works. Seems shady to me!! How do I go about returning the item or getting a refund if the seller is inactive?? I sure don't want to send it back, with no guarantee I'll get the refund from a seller who seems to have booked it after this sale. Is it even possible to return?

If the item is still showing in your Purchase History … then file a return request with eBay.
If the item is no longer in your Purchase History … which usually happens when a seller is suspended … then you’ll have to file a case with either PayPal or your credit card company.
[Your seller didn’t ‘book’. They were removed by eBay.]

·2 years agoIf it's missing parts, click return this item and choose not as described. If the seller has been banned for life from eBay you will still get your refund.

·2 years ago@geology1234. If you don't get a prepaid return label within 3 days, on the 4th day there should be an "ask eBay to step in" option within the return case. EBay will refund your purchase.
