How to contact eBay when they don’t respond to a message
I purchased “Tiffany & Co†earrings which turned out not to be authentic per a gemologist at the real Tiffany & Co. I thought eBay offered buyer protection in the event that an item is proven to not be what was advertised, so I sent a message to the seller and got no response because it was past the time for a return. On May 20, 2024, I messaged eBay for assistance on how to get a refund and have not gotten any response. I thought eBay guaranteed authenticity and should at minimum answer my message to address my legitimate concern. Any suggestions on how to reach the powers that be are appreciated, thank you!

·2 years agoThere would be no need to contact ebay if you are past the timeline for the MBG.

·2 years agoYou have up to three layers of Buyer Protection.
The first is eBays' Money Back Guarantee, but that is only in force for 30 days from delivery.
The second is optional.
If you use Paypal to anonymize your online purchases,you are eligible for their Buyer Protection program.
This has been good for 180 days from payment, but I have read that they recently have reduced that to, I think, 90 days from payment.
In either case, if you use PP, and I recommend that you do, open an ItemNot As Described claim immediately.
PP also requires that you pay for the return of the purchase if the seller wants it back.
No return, no refund.
The last protection is the chargeback policy of the credit card you really paid with.
Most cards allow from 120 to 180 days from payment for a chargeback. Policies on deadlines and returns will vary from card to card.
If you did not use PP,and again it is very useful even if only for the anonymization of your financial information, go to the 1-800 number on the back of your card or on your monthly invoice immediately.
And for the future, never use a debit card or a gift card to purchase online on any site. There is no refund possible with those payments.

The eBay Authenticity Guarantee @stacpapangeli_0 is not a guarantee. By definition, a guarantee has an OR, like this:
You won't get recourse trying to reach eBay or the seller. Instead, hit them where it hurts with a chargeback at your funding source, and use the statement from the company's gemologist.
