How can I get my money back guarantee?
On december 16th 2025 I bought a toner cartridge kit TN227 compatible for my Brother MFC-L 3770CDW printer for $45.oo plus $22.56 total $67.56US, $96.92CN. I received it january 12th, 2026. When I tried to install it it did not fit: the gears were not situated at the same place. I started a return but on the last stage I saw they were returning me only $11.56, and I had to pay for the shipping label, so I closed the return claim. I complained to ebay, asking for FULL MONEY BACK GUARANTEE, AS PROMISED. They turned me to JUST ANSWER. I supplied them the full informations, and they decided I was qualified for a refund. I received a refund confirmation in 3 to 5 days. 9 days later, nothing paid on my credit card, I contacted them again. They told me it was supposed to be in, wait a few days. Not long after they advised me ebay cancelled it because I asked for a refund (that I never accepted). I was told that that I should have put: not as advertised, but not ''does not fit'', the facts. ebay advised me that I had to return the toners and accept their decision. I returned them with the facts, on MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. They just left me with a box of junk (because of no use for me) and a net loss of $67.56US. No way to talk to someone at ebay. They closed the return window on feb 11, 2026. Not long ago I bout a car part on Amazon that did not fit. I asked for a refund and I received it within a week with a return label. This is what I call MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. So, if I don't get my money back, I will continue selling on ebay but I will not buy anything else anymore.

·6 months agoOh I fully understand the problem and have been giving professional advice in a casual yet cynical manner for dozens of years.
That you do not know what the MBG is, after selling for 16 years IS the entirety of your problems and is the base of so many more I would bet.
You need to get caught up to 2008.

·6 months agoActually, it's fairly clear to me that all of us do understand the problem and are trying to offer good advice.
The main issue here is that you evidently misinterpreted the MBG.
Nobody was interfering. All were trying to help. You continued to cling to the way you expected the MBG to work instead of using it to resolve the issue.
Even if you are determined to not buy here again, but just to sell, you still need to read the MBG. It affects sellers just as much as it does buyers and not understanding how it works will cause you problems eventually.

·6 months ago@gauth-andre it is real hard to lose on eBay as a buyer unless a buyer does not follow the eBay Money Back Guarantee policies.
If a buyer picks a remorse reason such as, Does Not Fit, a seller that does not accept returns can deny the return.
It is different for car parts.
If a buyer closes their return prematurely, that's it, done deal, no refund. No do-overs.
If the buyer screws up the return, somehow, the buyer still holds the trump card if they paid with a credit card and they can open a dispute through their financial institution to recoup the loss.

·6 months agoIt sounds like the OP just complained to eBay about it and expected them to process the return for him. If so, that is not how eBay works. And if you remain as a seller , you need to know this...eBay is automated for returns, no calls, & no one to help process them, you just follow the steps. In this case as @soh.maryl said, "open an item not as described" to receive the full refund

OP6 months agoEbay should pay more attention to find what is the problem by asking more explanations from the buyer when it is said: does not fit.

OP6 months agoAutomatically or not, you should know that MONEY BACK GUARANTEED means that you are going to get your money back no matter what the reason is. I talked to a few people h
who told me they have been fooled by that supposedly MONEY BACK GUARANTEED and they don't buy anymore from ebay. So ebay should add that some exceptions apply.

That's why it's important to read it, understand it and use it in a timely fashion.

If so, what did you indicate as your reason for opening the case?

·6 months agoThe thing here is, as we are trying to point out: We are presuming that you, as a buyer covered by the MBG, would have opened an item not as described case with eBay, which you had 30 days to do. However, if you used "doesn't fit" as the reason, eBay considers that a "remorse" return, even though it wasn't.

OP6 months agoI realised that flaw from ebay when I was on the second stage of refund return and I could not go back to the first one to make a change. I did not confirm and exit, but ebay considered I did and proceeded without my consent. This might be a reason why many people stopped buying on ebay. And this does not help seller loosing buyers. Strange. But Pay-Pal fixed that and I will get my refund after 3 months, but I will loose the return money. What a money back guarantee system.
