·1 year agoI never see ads at all. My page never has the banner ads at the top, bottom or sides..
But I run Malwarebytes Browser Guard in my browsers. It blocks all that garbage, including from eBay:

·1 year agoCan't help you with that.
But the original thread was about someone getting charges they weren't expecting just for asking questions.
If memory serves me right I think someone did post a screenshot of the offending ad on that thread.
After a quick forum search I was surprised to see it was you that posted a screenshot of that ad.
Though looking at that screenshot again perhaps it's not on the actual ebay page. Maybe you could clarify that bit.

If you looked at the screen shot it was a google search page NOT eBay. SMH.

·1 year agoThis has already come up on the forum about the pay per question service that was advertised on the ebay page.
As most said this was misleading as the user in question quite rightly thought they were talking with the normal ebay chat.

·1 year agoI think that the link may have come from a deceptive third-party ad similar to this one from askanexpertonline.com which has been seen on the Purchase History page in the past:
A recent thread about this:

·1 year ago@eburtonlab Wow That's either really bold or stupid.
Sad & maddening that eBay allows the scammer to advertise on their own website.
I wonder how those ads are vetted.

I believe that eBay allows third parties to place ads via Google Adsense, and then Google allows the deceptive ads.
@eburtonlab
Wow that's unreal! Wonder why eBay would allow such an ad.

If someone complains, eBay will have the specific ad removed, but it would be better if eBay was able to prevent all such ads from being placed on eBay at all.
Looking at the original thread, the ad actually appeared on eBay's Help page, which is doubly outrageous. eBay should not be allowing any ads where users are looking for help from eBay.

If you’ve been phoning a number for eBay you found online … then you’ve been dealing with scammers. Here’s what to do:
Find the confirmation email you received after purchasing the item. Inside will be instructions for filing an ‘item not as described’ claim with eBay. Follow them exactly.
OR you can phone your credit card company and request a chargeback.

Never Google eBay’s phone number. eBay doesn’t have a direct number to call them. Anything you find on the internet is a scam. eBay does not charge a fee to get you the help you’re looking for.
Get help when purchasing as a guest.

OP1 year agoI did not google their phone number i spoke with tis bot thing on their webpage and it said ok i will connect you with agent select phone call or chat i said chat then it gave me link to chat and it said pay 1 dolar to chat
@stars_9016
That's odd, I recently used chat in Help & Contact to request a call back, I wasn't asked to pay. It's a free service, surely you jest.
There isn't a chat link it's a chat box. You were dealing with a scammer.
this is what it looks liks.....

·1 year agoNo the bot gave me this link to service called justanswer and it wanted money
Justanswer is a scam site, it is NOT eBay!

·1 year agoBut ebaybot gave me link to it i did not found it on my own
No, a scammer gave you that link. I have been an eBay member way too long to know what eBay does and doesn't do. eBay will NEVER send you to other sites for chat. You were NOT dealing with eBay!
