Hello, I need to recover $69.95 from a seller after item was returned and delivered to them.
Hello I have been going in circles on this problem. I bought an auto part, found it was the wrong size, contacted the seller and he sent a shipping label , I shipped it and it was delivered. Part costed $69.95 I was only refunded $4.65 , provider for the auto parts store said the money was sent out back to my bank card. I checked the bank, I talked to the bank and no $69.98 was refunded. I can't get ahold of Ebay customer service anymore? no calls? What to do? This is my last option. I followed all the instruction on how to ask Ebay to step, in but its only leads me to nowhere land. Just so lost. Please help. TY

OP3 years agoI received the wrong side ( right side) passenger side. But because I messaged the seller stating I bought the wrong side , I was remorsed.

·3 years agoGood grief, this is all we needed to see. You received a WRONG ITEM SENT. It's not as described.
You absolutely purchased the front left, @jamesjamesbond.
eBay rules have run their course, and no longer apply. Go get your refund from PayPal.

·3 years agoYou told us you ordered a part for a stick shift but needed a part for an automatic which indicates an error on your part.
Now you're saying you purchased a part for the left side but received a part for the right side which indicates an error on the seller's part.
These are 2 different scenarios and have different steps for handling a return/refund. If you ordered the wrong part then you've already completed the return/refund process. But if you received a part different from what you ordered then you filed the wrong type of return request and should have chosen "wrong item sent" from the beginning.
As you've learned throughout this discussion, this kind of information (what you ordered vs what you received) is important to give you the right advice on what steps to take @jamesjamesbond .

·3 years agoThe detail we keep missing with all the many replies is that you only got $4.65 back, of the $69.98 you paid.
We keep going on and on about the price of a return shipping label. Have you gone on as suggested to PayPal @jamesjamesbond to file a dispute and get the rest of your money back, by proving it was returned?

OP3 years agoThank you for this suggestion , I will try! Ebay customer service read me the email I sent to Auto part geeks ! " I have to return this part because I made a mistake ordering" Ebay and Auto parts geeks, only respond is it`s a remorse return and I have to pay for shipping. I will try PayPal. Appreciated. TY

·3 years agoBuyer error does not constitute grounds for opening a "dispute".

OP3 years agoThank you for this information , ordered part from a link that someone sent me and just believed that all the information that was need was there. As I followed the step by step , it showed the part, then pressed choose the auto, 2006 Honda 2.4L2354CC144Cu.in , This is the shorter side and I was sent the right side longer one. But because I messaged the seller that I bought the wrong side it was call remorse return. I pay the shipping with was more the part is self. $72. I will try a request through PayPal see if I can recover part of my $$.$$

·3 years agoOne more thing @jamesjamesbond : did you watch the video on the listing? It's in the second photo slot. That video explains eBay's Guaranteed Fit for car parts. If you follow instructions in the video and enter your car's info you'll see whether or not that generates a Guaranteed Fit checkmark in which case you'd be covered on returns if the part ends up not fitting. Did you go through those steps before ordering?

·3 years agoWrong size or doesn't fit is a remorse return where the buyer is responsible for return shipping and the seller can deduct original shipping.

·3 years agoAnd isn't it sad that eBay can evidently find no way to make that clear to the buyer.
If I return a shirt for "doesn't fit", it's a remorse return and seller does not have to reimburse shipping.
If I return a car part for "doesn't fit", it's really a case of not as described, and the difference should be clarified so that buyers returning car parts can make the right choice.

OP3 years agoThank you so very much! Great advice on the fact that the car part didn't fit! And it was for a standard shift car and mine is automatic. I will start another request as " Not As Described" wrong part was sent. TY

·3 years agoNot sure you can open another case with eBay. In this situation, it's usually one and done.

·3 years agoAs I stated above, this exact thing happened to me, and I couldn't agree more. EBay needs to change it when dealing with parts, not just car parts, but computer parts, etc.... This is a huge problem.

·3 years agoCar parts are not always a case of not as described when it doesn't fit. There are a number of times that customers purchase the wrong item because they didn't read the compatibility table or the listing. I have had two in the past couple weeks that they purchased the wrong item because they didn't read and confirm their information, and of course they both opened cases as not as described.
jamesjamesbond
OP3 years agoThat is very true! As it happened to me. I didn't read all the compatibility tables and that's where everything went wrong.

OP3 years agoThe problem is the provider for autopartgeek sent the wrong part! They sent an axle assembly for a standard shift car and mine is an automatic. I'm going create a new request with " Not as described" Thank you for your information and taking the time to way in , greatly appreciate. It's just incredible that there's no way to talk to a real customer service person with Ebay ,Boy I miss the old Ebay.

·3 years agoDid you handle this through eBay messages or through a formal return request @jamesjamesbond ? If you filed a formal return request did you use the reason "doesn't fit"? If you selected the reason doesn't fit and the seller had a buyer-pays returns policy, then the cost of return shipping is paid by the buyer. That money for the return label is deducted by eBay from the refund the seller sends.
So it's entirely possible the seller sent you a full refund of the item cost, and that eBay deducted the amount of the return label from that item cost.
Can you post a screenshot of your return or your order that shows the financial breakdown? You can black out any personal info.

·3 years agoTHIS is exactly what happened to me! I bought a radiator that was supposed to fit my car, but it didn't. Later I found out that I have a half year vehicle.... and the seller didn't tell me that, even though I messaged them prior to buying it to make sure this was the right part for my vehicle. I ended up having to pay the return shipping fees. I avoid that seller now at all costs. Sorry this is such a bummer when it happens. EBay is implementing a new program for car parts though, and if the part is supposed to fit, and it doesn't there is going to be buyer protection on that 🙂

OP3 years agoYes thank you for your experience with the same issue. I just talked to Customer help and he read me the message I sent as " I ordered wrong part and have to return it " this sentence turned the transaction into Remorse return. I should of stated Not as described! part was for a stick shift and mine is an automatic. Never again. TY
