Getting a refund from an item that was not only late, believed to not have sent but was also a counterfeit
Summary: octreasurechest is experiencing difficulty obtaining a refund from eBay for an item purchased from China that arrived late and turned out to be counterfeit. They initially filed a claim because the item didn't arrive on time, but closed the case when it finally did. Upon discovering the item was fake, they found they couldn’t reopen or start a new case. soh.maryl and bonanza125 suggested contacting the payment source for help, and advised caution when purchasing from certain regions. ryry-jj mentioned that an INAD case might be possible after an INR case.
I have been trying really hard to get a refund for an item that was sold out of China. The reason I haven't been able to get a refund for it is because at first I was trying to get a refund for it because it had not arrived. It had a tracking number but when you clicked on the link it took you to a website that did not look too reputable nor did it show the status of the item that was supposedly on its way. After waiting three weeks and still no status update I filed a request for refund under the did not receive category. Ebay told me to wait a little longer which I did, then the package did finally arrive and I jotted that I did want to keep the item and the case was closed. I packaged the gift and gave it to my niece for her birthday just to find out that she opened it and it was apparently pretty obvious that they were fake. Now ebay doesn't let me open a new refund case nor is there an email to talk to them directly. Very disappointed to say the least.

·3 weeks ago · Editedyou can open an INAD case after an INR case was closed, this is the one exception to the 1 case rule. But you still need to be within ebay's 30 day MBG window

·3 weeks agoSpeaking to Ebay will not help. Once a case is closed you can no longer open another one. The advice I would give you is try not to purchase stuff out of China. Chances of the items being counterfeit are pretty high. You could try contacting your payment source.

·3 weeks agoYou've pretty well exhausted your options for help from eBay. Your only choice now is from your card. Did you actually open an INR case within a few days when it did not arrive by the EDD?
