Getting a Human at Customer Service
I am finding it IMPOSSIBLE to get a human in Customer Service - even through chat. There is no operating phone number and Chat just goes around in circles. It there some special phone number?
I have a product to return, but it is more than 30 days since purchase. I have contacted the Seller who has told me to return the item "for a full refund" using eBay to supply the Return Label. Since it is more than 30 days, there is no automated way to get eBay to do this - even though the Seller has agreed. I cannot seem to get anyone at ebay to talk to nor call me back. They are not being helpful at all.

·6 months agoYou can still contact the manufacturer and push for the warranty coverage. You would have better odds of getting them to adjust policy than ebay. At least contact the manufacturer and see if there is a warranty repair center near you. Many times those guys don't care how or where you bought it, they track the serial #, you just provide a purchase date, they often will file the repair under warranty. Often the warranty labor rate is more than the going repaired rate in certain areas. Some times the serial # will come back telling you not covered
But it is true about needing to buy from authorized dealers to have that valid warranty. Some manufacturers wont cover items purchased at all on market place facilitators even if sold by an authorized dealer.

·6 months agoIf you have had the item more then 30 days, the MBG has expired and there's nothing Ebay would do if you could contact them.

·6 months agoNo point in contacting ebay, they are no longer in the picture after 30 days. If you and the selleer agree to a return, the seller can email you a label to return the item and upon receiving it, the ycan then issue you a refund via paypal or some other form of payment. But nothing will be going through ebay. The seller may also deduct a portion of the amount to be refunded because they can not get any of their FVFs credited back.
I suspect the seller knows you are out of the 30 day MBG window which is why they say, "sure, go ahead and file for return" knowing you cant return via ebay at this point.
How much was the item? Another thing to consider, the seller may be trying to get you to send back the item with no intention of refunding you, making this a bigger problem

·6 months ago@sm1234 There is no need for you to talk to anybody at eBay. eBay is not going to pay for a shipping label past the return window. In fact, eBay does not pay for return labels at all. If a buyer lies about the return reason and the seller reports them, eBay will reinburse a small portion of the return label. They do the same for items sold in the auto parts category. However, neither of these situations apply and you may be beyond the 30-day MBG window if it has been more than 30 days since the item was delivered.
If the seller is willing to accept a return past the return window, you can open a return and the seller will be notified. They will then have the option to formally accept it or not. They do not have to accept it and there is nothing you can do if they don't. If they accept it, then the return policy in the seller's listing is what controls who pays for shipping. If the seller has free returns, they will have to provide you a label. If the seller does not have free returns, eBay will allow you to buy a label. (I went through this with a buyer last year when I took a return 45 days past the delivery date.)
Methinks your seller told you what you wanted to hear just to get you to go away. They know eBay does not pay for return shipping labels. If you are on the cusp of being past the return window, they may be trying to run out the clock by having you to go on a wild goose chase. What date was the order delivered?
If the seller should wind up telling you to buy a label elsewhere and ship it back without a return open, don't do that. You will lose the item and likely your money, too.
As far as eBay Customer Service, there is no number to call them. In the chat window you can type "Customer Representative" and that will trigger the chat to prompt you to accept a call back and/or wait for a live agent. They are not available 24/7. If they aren't there, the chatbot will tell you that. Again, no need to talk to them about this because they are not going to pay for a return shipping label.

OP6 months agoI was actually just asking how to get to talk to a human - not trying to get eBay to PAY for the return label (that was just the reason I was trying to get in touch) to start the return process past the time limit for the automated process. Your suggestion for that eventually worked - thank you. I was finally (after many tries) able to speak with a human. They really don't make it easy.
Unfortunately, you were correct - eBay wants nothing to do with anything after 30 days. The Agent (and then his "supervisor") were completely useless. Even though the Seller agreed to accept a return, eBay does not allow one to "open a return" after the "return window" has expired. The Agents were not able to override this automated system. This makes my 180 day Warranty worthless. Interestingly, this means that any time you buy a "new" product using eBay the manufacturer's Warranty may not be valid past the 30 days unless the Seller (or eBay) is "listed" on the manufacturer's "approved" list - which, in my case, it was not.
I always "assumed" that Warranties automatically came with the product (if new), but I was wrong. eBay (or Sellers) should make that clear - but they don't. I guess I am "out" my $120 for this item but will be very cautious in future buying anything on eBay.

eBay is not the one providing the warranty. They provide the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. Warranties are typically the responsibility of the manufacturer, so you would deal with them for a warranty claim (if the warranty is valid).

·6 months agoThe 30-day period is from when your item was marked "Delivered".
Has that date passed, too?
If not, the return process is automated from your "Purchase History".
ebay does not supply the label, the seller does (if warranted)
