Fraudulent buyer returned purchases -- NONE of them have been received
Please help us solve this mystery.
We have a buyer who used 10+ eBay accounts to make multiple purchases. Now she returned several of them under various pretext (wrong content, missing items, etc.)
We receive all our returns at our post office. But none of the returns have been received by our post office, even though tracking shows "delivered".
Also, it shows "delivered" several hours post USPS closing time. The post office says they do not receive shipments past 10 a.m.
Our question: Is there a way to trick the postal system? Perhaps using the correct bar code but changing the address on the label?
We strongly believe the buyer did not return these items and trust our post office.
This is the first time we have lost packages in 10+ years, all from the same buyer.
How is this possible?

·2 years agoAs you're talking to your post office ask for photos of the address label for each of those tracking numbers @forumeurope to understand why you haven't received any of your returns, nor are they even your items.
It's important to ask for the photos as the tracking record will show your correct address, which won't solve the mystery.

You are absolutely right that we would need to see the labels to find out where these packages have been delivered. Unfortunately the USPS told us they do not have images of the shipping labels or these packages.
So it appears that when a package arrives in a given zip code, the delivery is made using the address on the label. And once it's delivered, they scan the barcode and the tracking is updated to "delivered".
If the delivery address on the label is altered, the tracking will still show delivered in this zip code.
We contacted the main USPS distribution center. They confirmed that the packages were delivered to different locations. Some of these deliveries had "geolocations". Unfortunately they said they could not reveal these addresses and that they would launch an investigation.
So it sounds like the buyer altered the address on the label, and never intended to return the actual product. I have never seen anything like this before.
We have shipped over $1,000 of product and it seems like the buyer intended to get refunds & keep the product.
BTW, it may also be against USPS policies to alter the label....
