Fradulent Seller
I purchased 2 five coin sets from a vendor. When they arrived being shipped together, I discovered they were fake coins. I then read other purchaser's reviews and found I was not the first to experience this from this vendor. In contacting the vendor, I was told I could keep the coins and the purchase price for 5 coins would be refunded providing I gave a positive review. I replied I would give a positive review about their communication, but not on the fraudulent product. I, then, reminded the seller that this was not a 5 coin purchase but a 10 coin purchase. To which was the reply that I would now have to request a return of which I have done. I do not trust this vendor so replied I would return the coins only after I saw the money refunded in my credit card account. Otherwise, they have their coins (to sell to other unsuspecting customers) and possibly keep my money as well. What to Do?

What you do is follow the directions outlined in eBay's Money Back Guarantee for filing a 'return request'. You need to file a separate request for each Item Number. Here are the basic directions:
It really is a very simple procedure, to which you do NOT need to add your own flourish by demanding to see money in your account before returning the coins. If you follow the procedures, eBay will make sure you get your money back within a few days of the coins being delivered back to the seller.
If you paid with a credit card ... you ALWAYS know that you can file a chargeback if eBay's MBG fails to work for some reason. You CANNOT ensure that the seller stops selling counterfeit coins or doesn't resell the fake coins you purchased. eBay will suspend a seller's privileges if enough buyers file claims.

OP11 months agoThank you! Ebay says no refund because the seller says they did not receive the coins in time. I was the 2nd customer to complain. I believe the oth r r purchasers did not check out the validity of the coins. I will do that cr as did card charge back idea. Again, thank you°

·11 months agoIf you decide to file a chargeback with your credit card or pp, you may need to provide evidence.
Taking the coin sets to a coin shop for verification could help support your case, as it’s currently just a he said/she said situation.
You might also want to take a screenshot of the eBay listing as additional proof, since the credit card issuer may require it.

·11 months agoYou both are playing games....just return the coins as items not as described for the full refund

Just file a "not described claim." You must ship the coins back to the seller first and it must state delivered. Then the refund process can start. If the seller doesn't refund you in a few days then have Ebay step in. You can't just ask the seller to refund you before you ship back. So this "I would return the coins only after I saw the money refunded in my credit card account" is a no go on Ebay.
In addition don't accept any ultimatums from the seller about feedback. You need to tell the seller that you and the seller themselves need to follow policy.

·11 months agoYou're trying to make the eBay Money Back Guarantee work differently than it does.
All you need to do is open an item not as described case within 30 days of any faulty, defective or counterfeit item.
After you open that case, you wait 3 days for a response. If that doesn't happen, you return to that case and request that eBay step in. What happens then? eBay refunds you, you do not have to return the item and the seller has a "defect".
Expecting a refund BEFORE returning an item is unrealistic on your part and somewhat of a surprise from an experienced eBayer.
All flawed transactions for buyers have to be required the way that's set forth in the MBG. You need to read it.

·11 months agoHi
Sorry to hear this happened to you. Open a return using the reason "Item Not as Described". During the return process, you will be allowed to provide information about why they are not as described. I would include pictures as well. The seller will have to provide a shipping label to you and You will have to return the coins in order to get your refund. As a buyer you are protected by eBay buyer protection. The seller will have 3 days to issue the refund AFTER tracking shows the coins are returned to them. If you are not refunded you can then ask eBay to step in for help. Wait until after you get the refund to leave feedback. Then give the appropriate feedback. I would also report them to eBay.
