Fix Return Policies
Ebay really needs to update their return policies. The other site I sell on is SO much better. Buyer has 3 days and then it is closed no ,matter what. I just got a return on Ebay . It was sold 32 days ago but received it about 27 days ago. Said they never got it though showed it was delivered. Didn't hear back for 3 weeks now says they just don't like it. When contacted they said they never opened it and when I said if it was never opened how do you know you don't like it they changed it to opened package but not the bag. I don't like being lied to and having to accept a return this way on an expensive ring but Ebay forces me to. Just praying I get the same ring and same condition back but really this is not fair to sellers. Remorse should not be a legitimate reason for return especially after this long.

·7 months agoNo, if you don't want to accept remorse returns, YOU need to update YOUR return policy.
You have a 30 day return policy and the buyer requested the return in 27 days. That means they are abiding by YOUR policy that you CHOSE.
If you don't want remorse returns, have a "no return policy" but be aware that buyers might lie and claim NAD in order to return an item they don't like. Worse, they might damage an item to make sure it's NAD.
You weren't lied to. You were told the truth; it was remorse. Ebay only forces you to accept the return because (again), that's the return policy you opted for.
TBH, I don't understand what the big deal is.
The only thing a return costs you is a bit of your time while you wait to get it back and wait for it to sell again.
I appreciate honest buyers who admit to remorse.

OP7 months agoThe problem here is the fact this buyer claimed they never received it though there is proof of delivery . Waited almost 30 days and then said they never opened the package but claimed did not like it. When I asked how they knew they did not like it if they never opened the package they then said they opened it but did not take it out of the bag. So yes, I was lied to several times. And yes, I am changing to 14 days return but even then it really does not matter. At this point just hoping I get the ring back.

·7 months agoIf you do returns where 'buyer pays to return it'...the buyer might just think twice.
And the 14 days is sufficient for the return.

·7 months agoeBay will never "update" the return policies and if they do it will favor the buyers more.
eBays MBG is 30 days from receipt and sellers just have to live with it or not sell on eBay.
You have 30 day returns on your listings.
Best to never contact a buyer about why.
Just reply "Im sorry you are unhappy. Please return for refund" and move on to the next sale.
Life is not fair.
Fair depends on which end of the stick you get.

·7 months agoThere a buyers who will not buy an item which has no returns.
Some categories are high return rate and normally have liberal return policies.
Ebay has evolved to its current returns policy after learning the hard way that No Returns had limited its growth as an Internet marketplace. It is way behind the leading e-commerce sites in sales volume.
I have a No Returns policy because I wish to discourage the buyers who will not buy from sellers with a No Returns policy. I want buyers who know what they are buying, and really want to own it. Those who think one of my items is interesting, but do not strongly want it are a waste of my time.

·7 months agoeBay's not forcing you. It was your choice to offer a 30 day returns policy.
Why do you offer a 30 day returns policy if you do not want to accept remorse returns for that long? With jewelry you can offer a 14 day returns policy or a no returns policy.
The buyer was honest when they chose a remorse reason instead of forcing a claim saying the item wasn't as described. That's a good thing. Why are you even contacting them? Accept the return and relist when you get it back. There's no need to get into a discussion with a buyer on a remorse return.

OP7 months agoI had to contact them because they contacted me saying they never received though tracking shows it was delivered. Then they told me they did not like it but said they never opened the package . So there were several problems here .

·7 months agoINR could have been confusion like a family member putting the package aside.
Didn't like it without opening it could have been based on looking at the photos again, or finding another ring they liked better.
I don't see real problems at this point.
Change your return policy if you're not happy offering 30 day returns.
