EBay refunded a buyer before the deadline they gave me
I recently had a buyer opt to return an item that was damaged. Usually I ask them to provide the price of the shipping and I reimburse them. However in this case the buyer insisted on a return label.
Selling on the Australian site but being located in New Zealand I don’t believe this option is available to me which I mentioned to the buyer but they refused to budge on.
EBay gave me four days to either facilitate a return or refund. After a day the buyer escalated it to a case and then shortly after eBay closed the case and refunded them the full amount without asking for any information or input from myself or even a reason for their decision
I want to provide the buyer compensation for return but EBay has sided with the buyer and now refunded them so I have no recourse to get the item returned. Is this fair and has eBay followed best procedure here?? I have appealed the decision but no idea how that goes.
