Ebay refund guarantee
I am updating on my return request for the dress I purchased. Initially, I selected the “Doesn’t Fit†option, however, I’ve since been informed that this is interpreted as a “Change of Mind†return.
The issue with my purchase is that the photo on the listing showed the dress as being a midi length, but what I received was a maxi dress that reached my ankles (I am 5’4†tall). The discrepancy between the advertised image and the actual item is what led me to initiate the return. While eBay suggested I should have selected “Not as Described†in my request, I felt this would not be entirely accurate because the issue was not with the dress itself but with the misleading image showing the incorrect length. Unfortunately, there isn’t a specific return option for this type of misrepresentation. I did have the option of choosing a call back but when I tried to initiate this, it didn't t work either!

·8 months agoThis could still be an INAD case....was the dress listed as size 12 regular, and is that what you received?
Note: only buy clothing from buyers who accept returns, even if you are required to pay shipping back. As we all know, clothing sizes fit each person differently, fabrics feel different, and returns are all part of selling apparel, just because you buy on line, the industry needs to treat it the same way. Sellers of apparel who do not offer returns at all, stay away from
Edit: I'm referring to new clothing items

·8 months agoeBay considers "Doesnt fit" and Changed my mind" as buyers remorse and if the seller doesnt accept returns, they can decline your request. I do agree with those above that I dont think this would qualify as not described. Whenever you are unsure about something, its always best to contact the seller to clarify prior to purchasing. As for getting your money back, your best option would be opening a dispute with your credit card company.

@1annem
Maybe the seller's photos were of the dress on a woman standing 5'8". Going forward, don't rely on a photo... contact the seller with any/all questions before buying.
As you've learned, there are no 'do-overs' with the eBay Return. And, honestly... I'm not sure it is a 'Not as described' issue.
As mentioned upthread, your next recourse would be with PayPal, then your CC. Or maybe have it hemmed? Good luck, however you proceed.

OP8 months agoThank you for your reply. All very wise advice, if it wasn't for the 5'8" model comment. The actual M&S dress lable is marked "Size 12 Regular". Have a good day

·8 months agoHi @1annem
I’m so sorry, but we only get one chance to file a return request. Once a reason is chosen, we have to stick with that OR lose the ability to file a claim with eBay for that item.
[’Doesn’t fit’ is the one reason that has confounded many buyers. Fortunately, we make that mistake only once.]

·8 months agoYou should have selected item not as described, saying the dress 'doesnt fit' is a remorse return, and if the seller doesnt accept returns, he is not obligated to take it back. You may want to try for a refund at Paypal, if thats what you used, using the correct reason for return, not as described. If that doesnt work, and you paid by cc, try them for a chargeback.
