eBay is terrible for sellers
eBay’s System Can Enable Seller Abuse
Some sellers exploit eBay by creating multiple accounts to manipulate the algorithm. They boost their listings with fake engagement, inflate feedback, and appear more popular than they are. This gives them an unfair advantage over honest sellers.
Worse, these accounts often harass other sellers through false claims, abuse of return policies, and repetitive negative feedback. eBay’s current system, relying heavily on automation and AI, can allow this behavior to continue, making it difficult for small sellers to compete or defend themselves.
Honest sellers are left to monitor suspicious accounts, block or flag them, and document every interaction, and eBay helps them.

·8 months agoeBay allows and even to some degree encourages having multiple accounts. You cannot buy from one of your accounts using another account, however, and it would be a quick way to have no accounts, permanently.
Are there some sellers who try to do similar things anyway? Probably. Are you most likely misinterpreting something you’re seeing as that when the truth is completely different? Also yes.
If you’d like to come back and describe what specific situation you’re running into that seems to be an issue, we can provide advice.

·8 months ago'manipulate the algorithm(s)'....maybe...in my category :
List an item worth only one cent but do a 'buy it now' for like $2000.00+ of this item(s) which no one will buy...and promote this at 50%....seller get notice with this item(s) and maybe shows seller he has $2000.00+ total of items for sale.

·8 months agoHow, exactly, does a seller "inflate feedback"?

·8 months agoHave a friend buy many of his friend(seller) items which are probably 'dirt cheap'...to give feedbacks to his friend(seller)...it does happen.
In my situation...seller buys a .99 stamp with free shipping and gets a feedback from me but doesn't collect stamps which I sell...and yea...I stopped listing .99 stamps with free shipping🤪
