Ebay doesnt protect its sellers of 5+ years and its awful!!

Ebay doesn't protect it's sellers at all and it's awful. I was on vacation and someone who was an assistant failed to send an item. I then contacted ebay yold them that I was sending the item provided them tracking . The item was sent out. As it was being sent the case was closed and I couldn't appeal it. I contacted ebay told them I had told them I was sending it and provided tracking proof. The item has been delivered for 7 freaking days and ebay charged me the full amount and the customer got free shoes. So now I'm down a pair of shoes, money and the customer got them for free because ebay is charging me. I was told by a manager oh well you should of refunded them. We'll little too late for that because the item has been delivered I couldn't appeal and now the customer got free shoes because ebays charging me for them. I'm down money, inventory and shoes. Ebay doesn't protect sellers. In tbis case they can escalate a case when shoes have been sent and ebay will charge the seller even if the shoes were sent out. Anyone can do this now and as a seller you're NOT protected. Smh as a user of hundreds of sales and 5 + years tbis is awful. I tried to do the right thing and send the shoes fir the customer the person escalated to close the case and ebays automated system didn't protect me as a seller smh

·2 years agoNo, not because ebay anything, its because of your assistant.

·2 years ago"Assistant" failed to do their job. Not an eBay problem. It's a hired worker problem. Maybe take the lost revenue out of worker's pay.

·2 years agoI know that selling on eBay does not always follow what one might think is fair or reasonable. And, the longer you sell, the more likely it is that you will encounter a situation that hurts and feels unfair ... it has happened to all of us, and we get shocked to learn about an eBay policy.
So, hopefully you are now aware of a couple of things:

·2 years agoI would suggest moving on and concentrate on damage control. Start by contacting your customer that left the negative feedback. Explain the situation (and apologize again) and let them know you will be sending them a feedback revision. It's important to understand the customers point of view and why they were disappointment with the transaction. As long as your communications between them have been cordial, most buyers do understand and will revise the feedback. Especially if they received a full refund and the item.
Since you do not have a lot of transactions, your feedback percentage will take the initial hit. Once you sell a few more items that percentage will get back to a number that is respectable. While working on selling more to get more feedback, work on communicating better with your customers during and after the sale. Not only is that important for future feedback, but it also will help flush out any issues your customers may have. Address any and all issues quickly. Take care of them before someone else does. (Ebay or Customer Return Request)
Typically these mistakes do not happen over night and you/assistant had time to respond and take care of this once contacted. It is your responsibility to get the customer their product so if you are not there to do it, make sure you have a competent assistant that can deal with it.
Take care of it quickly and use this a learning experience so it will not happen again.

·2 years agoIt is not ebays fault that YOUR assistant failed to send the show out on time. You should have just refunded and kept the shoes.

·2 years agoNext time you are unable to take care of your Shipping, put your items on Time Away so they can't be purchased.
If eBay did the refunding in your behalf, your seller account also received a nasty seller defect. A few of those and eBay will start charging you an extra 5 or 6% in Seller fees.
The bottom line is a hard line. One day after the latest delivery date provided by eBay to the buyer, the buyer can file a Item Not Received case. As a seller, you have a few days after that to prove a carrier delivery scan to buyer.
These are always hard time lines and eBay does not move them for anyone.
