Easier way to end a return shipping label?
For years eBay automatically sent a label when I got a return request. Now I don't even get an option to send one through eBay (like the AI chat bot refers to) All I get is the option to upload and confirm. Its a pain and time consuming to have to go to pirate ship and create one. I know some people want to upload their own but the shipping preference I originally chose was the one I would want to use. eBay is a multi billion dollar corporation. Shouldn't they have a option to just send a label? I've seen others refer to said option but I do not have it. Do you have to have a "store"? What am I missing? Any help would be great.
Thank you.

·7 months agoHi @desert_sunset_vintage - can you provide more details? You're saying when a buyer opens a return, you have no ability to generate the label through eBay and are forced to buy a label outside of eBay, correct?
I notice a lot of your listings have "free returns" - can you confirm if you have automation rules in place to automatically accept and provide a free return label?
I'm asking because I've seen other sellers with free return automation rules run into the same problem. According to one of those sellers that connected with the shipping team on this, on the back end there is a tech error where eBay is changing the weight/dimensions from what's on your listing and making the dimensions too large to generate the label.
I suggest doing 2 things for now:
1. Tap the ? on the bottom right corner of most eBay pages and select the link to report a tech issue.
2. Temporarily disable your automated return rule and instead process returns manually - at least until eBay fixes this error. The error seems to be tied to the automation.

"Occasionally", I don't get the option to approve a ebay provided return label. Once a year or so but have seen that happen a few times over the years. In those cases, I do it like you do. Buy on PirateShip and upload it.
I use USPS and UPS for my everyday shipping.
What I see available from eBay in a return case is a choice of USPS and FedEx.
I use the return setting of RMA option which gives me the choice of using a ebay label or uploading my own label for the return.
That is about all I know about it.....

Thankfully I don't get many returns. What do you mean "return setting of RMA"? Where is that located?

Go to your Return Settings. You can enable the RMA option from there. That will allow you to control the return label choice that eBay provides or you can upload your own return label if you don't like what eBay is offering.
It actually stalls the return process. You have 2 or 3 days to respond to providing a return label. Make sure to respond in a timely manner or the buyer can ask ebay to step in for a refund.
