I'm in the process of returning an item I purchased from a seller who gave me incorrect information on the product prior to purchasing the item. The seller has agreed to the refund but I wanted to verify if the seller can get away without refunding me the money somehow? Does ebay guarantee that I will receive my refund?

EBay will force the refund if the seller hasn't provided it within 2 days of delivery.

You have 30 days around estimated delivery date to file for a refund. Don't do it too early or too late. If it was something freight forward from another country that's a different story or if it is from China. Whether or not you pay shipping we don not know enough information.

If you opened an item not as described case with eBay, the seller will be required to send you a prepaid return label if he wants the item back and to refund you, the buyer, in full when he receives the returned item. Or, the seller can decide to let you keep the item AND to refund you in total.

Return an item for a refund | eBay

Since the item did not have the correct information, open an eBay case with reason "Your item didn't match the listing". Seller should provide return shipping (or seller can refund without a return). Seller can wait for item to be returned before refunding. Follow your case until it is closed.

You need to open an item not as described case. The seller is then responsible to send you a return label, and refund after return. If he does not provide the label, on the fourth day go back to the case and ask Ebay to step in. You will be instantly refunded.
