Customer Return While Away
I am away on vacation and have my store marked with time away. A customer is making a significant return. I will not be back when it is received returned, so I will not be able to inspect for any damage. Will I get more than the normal 2 days to issue a refund since I am gone? Any recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

·3 years agowouldn't matter anyway if it is damaged - buyer is always right and there is no way to prove he caused it

It makes no difference if you inspect it, or do not inspect it.
Even if they send you a rock, you must refund in full within the 2 days, or as posted, eBay will do it for you with your money, give you a defect, and withhold the FVF.
You are not TRS, so you have no option to deduct a %age of the sale even if you do not get the item back in the condition sent.
Once you are back if there was anything wrong with what the buyer did you have the option to "report buyer", which will likely result in "nothing".

From what I understand … sellers should deal with a problematic return by making a post-refund Appeal, rather than prior to making the refund.
It’s better if eBay isn’t brought into the ongoing case in order to avoid receiving a defect.

ebay sends me an email message as soon as my item is returned
you can just hit the refund button while you are away
its not going to make much difference if you ask me
you will still need to refund no matter what shape the item is in
I always ask me son to swing by and check out the mailbox but ebay is very good with letting me know the package has been delivered, normally as soon as its dropped off and scanned

·3 years agoGet someone to take in the package if it's going to be sitting outside. At least it won't get stolen.

·3 years agoForgot to mention, if eBay does the refund for the seller, eBay also hands out a nasty defect on the seller account.

·3 years agoNo, the refund time period waits for no one. If the buyer asks eBay to step in, bam, refunded.
