Customer requested a refund because the item didn’t fit; but it was clearly posted as XL
Buyer states item doesn’t fit, too large. Item was posted as a men’s XL. My husband wears a L and had tried it on and it was close to fitting him, but didn’t need it - so let me post it. I had gotten it at an estate sale. So now it looks like eBay wants me to refund, and pay for return shipping?

·3 years agoWas the reason doesn't fit? Or was the reason not as described then in the comments buyer wrote doesn't fit? Look at this page: https://www.ebay.com/sh/ord/return
What does it say in the details column next to reason @tracmb5514? The answer to that will determine the advice you receive.
Tip: Next time include measurements. Can't fathom selling anything, especially clothing, without detailed measurements.

OP3 years agoThe reason was doesn’t fit, and in details it says too large.
the item was posted as a men’s XL and someone else did ask for measurements, which I supplied. I think others can also see Q/A about items, but that was a couple years ago - not sure if it’s still like that.
I ended up agreeing to a refund if it’s returned in the same condition as when I sent it.
I’m often disappointed that eBay’s help is so cookie cutter, black and white.
im also having issues with people winning items, then never paying. It has escalated in the past year. Probably 1/3-1/2 of my sold items don’t get paid and repost. I have a couple items it’s happened more than twice!

I can address a few of these issues.
To show the answers to questions from your buyers in your listings... go to 'Account Settings/Selling/Manage communications with buyers'. When the page prefills, scroll down to 'What your buyers can do' and tick the blue 'Edit' button and tick 'YES' beside 'See answers to your FAQs'. When the next page prefills, tick 'Share answers to your FAQs' and tick 'Submit'.
And with a 'No Returns' policy, you'll be refunding the item in full, no matter what you get back... even for remorse.
Regarding your non-payers, make sure to cancel those sales after 96 hours of non-payment, citing 'Buyer didn't pay'. That'll keep the deadbeats away from a lot of us sellers if they do it a couple of times.
Good luck.

·3 years agoHey @mtgraves7984. Adding to what you posted about the FAQs:
The seller also has to check a box on the actual reply before they send it to the buyer that says "Post this question and answer in the FAQ section of my listing so all buyers can see it. Once posted can't be edited." Even then, buyers will only see it if they visit the ASQ page - it does not appear below the description as it did many years ago (which is what I think @tracmb5514 was expecting).

·3 years agoI see that you don't have a return policy and since the return request is a remorse reason (as "fit" is), you aren't obligated to accept the request.
However since the buyer was honest enough to give an accurate reason and since you charge separately for shipping, my recommendation would be to accept the return having the buyer pay to ship it back. Once you receive it, you can issue a refund for just the purchase price. You do not have to return original shipping.
That way, you have a happy buyer and you've lost nothing but a bit of your time. Just relist and resell it.

OP3 years agoThat’s what I ended up doing. Balls in the buyers court now. We’ll see if it actually gets shipped back to me.
I will refund if it does. Happy buyers are definitely important to me.
thanks for your input
