Counterfeit American Silver Eagle
I bought (2) 2023 American Silver Eagles which were delivered today. When I applied a magnet to the coins, the magnet stuck. .999 Silver is not magnetic. I submitted a return request, however, I found out that the secret service should be notified since the coins were represented as legal tender. Also, It seems like EBAY should be advised that the seller is selling counterfeit coins.
Please advise.

·3 years agoNot an item I would buy mail order unless it was a trusted known dealer. Fake coins have been around as long as coins have. Got to suspect everything. Wait until you return them and get a refund report it. They can seize them if they know you have them.........

·3 years agoThere was a similar post about fake eagles just a few weeks ago. I use to collect coins and I honestly would not buy any high dollar coins on ebay anymore. And don't get me started on the sellers who are altering coins to be error coins. It's just to risky now . I purchased 2 a decade ago and both were fake and haven't bought another since

OP3 years agoThanks. I've learned my lesson. It's not worth buying on ebay just to save a few bucks.

·3 years agoNot true. It depends what you buy but very often if the price is too good, there is something wrong. Open an item NOT as described case. Prepare the coin to be returned. Do take nice, clear photos of the coin and save them. Anyway, once you open the case, get the coin ready to be returned. Once you get the return shipping label, ship it . Make sure that you write the tracking # on the case.
Jot down the name and address of the seller and send that information to the Secret Service . Include printouts of the coins and the ebay ID of the seller and the item #.

·3 years agoI had a phony $20 bill deposited into my bank along with other tip money...bank said nothing to me...just notice account was short that $20. Not the first time for me in fact.
I lost $20 bill plus never got to see it ever again. No one contacted me.
Result....for you...I would return them back for my money as a refund. You will lose out on the refund plus I don't think secret service will do much. You can mark the seller selling fake items....I would wait until I got my refund though. Just my thoughts.
