Can't buy a return label?
As a seller I am tending to a return request and I need to buy a return label for the buyer to send the item back, but I don't see where to buy the label. The eBay instruction reads:
"Purchase a return label from your preferred carrier and then share it with the buyer."
The order # is 16-14621-65307
I guess what I need to know is how to buy a label from the USPS for an item that I do not have in my possession.

OP4 months agoJust spent 23 minutes on the phone with eBay and they can't figure it out either. A simple return yet so much wasted energy on nothing getting accomplished. As usual in life, Help is no help.

I haven't seen confirmation of what triggers a return to require you to buy the label elsewhere, rather than having an option within the return case to purchase it from eBay, but I've seen other sellers report the same.
You can buy the label directly from usps.com or from another site like PirateShip, and just upload it as a PDF or one of the image formats into the case. Make sure the tracking number shows up correctly, or just copy/paste it in yourself (it tries to get it from the image you upload of the label, but sometimes it gets mixed up).

·4 months agoThere is, as mentioned already, an automatic process within the US that ebay issues USPS labels normally as the base return vehicle once a return case is open & has proceeded to that point. Sellers can also independently provide labels but I would not do so until the Return Case has progressed to that point.

When your buyer opens up an official eBay return case, there is an option for requesting a prepaid return label -- once the buyer requests the label, the buyer can click on a message that reads something like "Purchase return label," after which the buyer's printer will print the label.
Has your buyer actually opened an official eBay return, or only sent you an email regarding their desire to return the item?

Do you see an option to 'Approve' or 'Decline' the request? I think when you approve it, a label is provided to your buyer. 🤔
