Can you stop a refund due to scam?
So for context I mostly sell trading cards. I sold a sealed box for $1400 a few weeks back and after a while the buyer reached out to me saying they changed their mind and wanted to return the box for a refund. I agreed to it and I just received the return package today and the box was cracked open with all the valuable cards taken out. I know eBay has a Money Back Guarantee and usually sides with the buyer no matter what but I refuse to be scammed out of $1400. If I pull all the funds from my bank account so the refund cant happen what will eBay do? Or is there an alternative way I can address this?

·10 months agoYou need to contact ebay IMMEDIATELY on the phone and explain what is happening. Document it with photos, possibly even file a police report.
Yes, ebay normally sides with the buyer with returns, but this is outright fraud. You need to be proactive in handling this matter directly with ebay.

did the buyer open a return case within the 3 day period?
what was the reason for the return?
did ebay step in yet?
I am not a collector, but your description never once says "Sealed" making it difficult for an "objective" arbitrator to see the what your complaint is.

·10 months agoClassic return fraud. Add a small amount to all your prices to cover such loss.
You would get a over draft fee from your bank if you did that. That would be more than the 14.00 too.

·10 months agoThey have 13 items for sale. Spread evenly that is adding $100+ to each and every item they have which would insure they never sold another item again.

Trading Cards only have 3 days past delivery to open a return, what day does tracking show delivered?

If you 'rip' your account, you better close it because they will just continue trying. 2nd; they will turn you over the collections and ruin your credit if they are not paid.
Also plan on never selling again.
Should be a learning lesson for you; remove that $1400 set.
If you were TRS with Returns you could refund 'up to 50%', but you are probably not so...
