Buyer wants to return item (Buyers Remorse)
Reason for return
Ordered by mistake
Details
Hello, Thank you for sending the item in a timely manner. We're very sorry, but circumstances on our end have changed, so we ask that you please accept a return on this item in exchange for a refund. We will, of course, cover the return shipping cost. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Kind regards
That is the message from them. Ebay says case is closed but I am trying to see if there will be a continuance on the case. Accepting a return for circumstantial buyers remorse seemed out of the question since the item I sold was $2000. I did not want to risk a scam from them. Any opinions would be appreciated.

You were wrong to not accept the return.
You have a return policy and as such, buyers can return any item for ANY reason or for NO reason.
Since your 30 day return policy has buyers paying return shipping and that's what the buyer offered, why did you not accept?

·5 years agoIf they selected "buyers remorse" or "changed mind" or "ordered by mistake" or "doesn't fit"... you can decline the return request.. I don't go for that nonsense. I don't take returns, and the few times someone wanted to return an item because it didn't fit or they changed their mind, I always say no. ( also don't get how you can order something by mistake... if I'm buying something it's because I need or want that particular item, so... 😕
I mean, if you said no, and the case is closed, they might try some B...S.. like filing a chargeback or something... but if the case is closed there is nothing else they can do on eBay to pursue the issue... They might be able to file an appeal, but generally speaking the appeals here go nowhere.

OP5 years agoI heard that you can dispute cases like this on paypal. The buyer also attached pictures of the item showing that it was in perfect condition upon arrival. I have Snap Shots and proof of everything and proving it was a buyers remorse type of case. If they do try to claim INAD after the fact then I would assume that paypal will side in my favor. I don't think I fall in the category of forced return from paypal. I believe you answered my question but was just wondering if it would escalate.
Thanks!

·5 years agoAll the buyer has to tell their credit card is that they try to return it in good faith and you refused. Instant win

They tried and failed to return. When they go to their credit card, they WILL win and the seller will lose both their item and the money paid for the item. They also get a very nice $20 chargeback fee added.
It's always best to accept a return.

OP5 years agoI disagree with you. I am normally one to always accept return no matter what. I accepted a return on an expensive item once and they sent me back an empty box. Nothing else happened other than I got an item stolen from me. That isn't a fair system to me. I think you should fight for yourself when you can. I appreciate the input.
