Buyer threatening negative feedback if I don't refund order made over 8 months ago
I inspected the item and listed as new condition, seeing no signs of wear whatsoever. Item was delivered to buyer on Aug 10, 2023.
Today (April 22, 2024), I received a message saying he is withholding his feedback (presumably negative) until I address his issue. He said he finally got around to trying the item, it only partially worked, then sent pictures of a worn piece and said the item must have been used before.
I'm usually very responsive to customers and I think it reflects in my 98% positive feedback, but I also don't want to be taken advantage of. Buyers should have some responsibility to review their items within a reasonable time, correct?
Looking for advice on how to proceed. I try very hard to keep my feedback high, but don't like it to be used to hold over me in an expectation to do something unreasonable.

I had a few buyers as such asking for a refund or doing a credit card dispute after 6 months.
Buyer can still open a claim...eBay allows it. You can just say no to claim in eBay and also a credit card dispute.
Sounds like the buyer needs money.
Make sure buyer is blocked.

Feedback can only be left for up to 60 days after purchase.
So tell your buyer to have at it lol 😂
Your buyer also won't be able to open a return through eBay and has run out of time to file a chargeback.
You can introduce your buyer to your best buddy list.

·2 years agoBuyers only have 60 - 90 days from package arrival to leave feedback for a seller. Also, eBay gives 30 days for a buyer to request a return (long passed that date) and most credit card companies only give 6 months for a chargeback (again well past that date also). I would just ignore this message and block the buyer from messaging you as the buyer shouldn't be able to do anything against you 8 months later.

I've been selling for many years, but never had this situation come up before.
