Buyer sees defect that isn't
I sold an item on 2-12, it was delivered on 2-17. Buyer requests return on 3-5 stating broken/defective. The item is a church with a stained glass window. Buyer stating there is a mark on the window not disclosed either in description or pictures. This buyer specifically requested prior to purchasing a picture of the back of the item which has this stained glass window. I sent two pics. No issues or requests for additional pictures. She purchases the item on 2-12. Now 16 days later there is a "defect" . I don't consider this a defect or I would have mentioned this. Now ebay is with holding the entire amount. This is the second day after correspondence and no response from her. I only have a couple days to formally respond to this request. I feel there is no damage/flaw! Help! Suggestions welcome!

·6 months agoWhat is your return policy? Usually sellers who offer "no returns" will face INAD claims to go around your no return policy. They may even actually damage the item just to make the claim "real". Whereas if you offer free returns, you would just get the item back to relist and resell.

·6 months agoI find that offering 30-day, buyer pays return shipping has NOT resulted in more MBG claims nor an increase in return requests. And this policy costs me nothing more than a bit more time in waiting for the return and waiting for the item to sell again.

·6 months agoYa, in my 25 years of selling I have had 4 returns, no damage claims, and have just refunded 100% of the returns. I don't even think about....I have always figured if a buyer doesn't want the item, send it back, I'll make you whole & sell again. Only one of the items that came back was a Blue Ray opened up that I then couldn't sell again. But overall, I'm ahead

OP6 months agoThanks for everyone's input. I guess I am having an issue because it is not a defect. But be sure I will note this "defect" next time I list it. I only hope it makes it back to me.

·6 months agoIf your buyer isn't happy, let them send it back. Then you can sell it to someone else. I would also be extra clear about stating the details of this product when you re-list it.

·6 months agoPer the MBG, if/when ANY buyer opens ANY claim of item not as described, ANY seller's best bet is to accept the return and refund.

·6 months agoYep, too many sellers think that eBay offers seller protections against item not as described claims, which is simply not something that is in the scope of eBay, seller, protections, and most cases. There are very limited and very focused seller protections available, but they do not apply to the vast majority of cases.
I know I’ve said it before, but I really appreciate your continued campaign to educate people on the eBay money back guarantee.
