Buyer returned item damaged
Hey. So a buyer returned a 10k gold ring totally smashed. They improperly packaged it and it was destroyed in transit. I’ve been trying to get ahold of anyone at eBay. Every time I call I get stuck in an
ai loop and they say it’s outside of business hours. When I pick them to contact me they keep saying I have spam blockers on, but I don’t. And now I see there’s no way to cotact them on fb or twitter. I’ve been selling for years. I’ve spoken to people on the phone. I feel like I’m going crazy. Does anyone know how to get in contact with someone. Thanks.

Did the buyer return the ring in the same packaging you used originally?
Was the return shipping insured?
[I’m really sorry this happened.]

OP5 months agoNo they didn’t. I sent it in these crush proof boxes. Buyer sent it tossed in an envelope. A 10k gold ring. And didn’t get any additional insurance. I’m basically just out all around.

·5 months agoI’m so sorry. I guess the ring wasn’t wrapped in tons of bubble wrap either. [I once had a seller ship a pair of onyx candle holders in an envelope. Some people must misunderstand the strength of metal and stone.]

·5 months agoIf you offered 30 day free returns, you could deduct 50% off the refund.

OP5 months agoI don’t offer returns at all. Both selected “doesn’t fit” and I thought I could just resist and sell them so I accepted the return. When I went to refund and deduct for damage it wouldn’t allow me only to just report the problem. I’ll definitely never accept a return again lol

·5 months agoRight now, you don't qualify to deduct any from the refund.
Buyers can still file an INAD and you wouldn't have an option to not accept the return.

·5 months agoFirst off, I'm sorry to hear about this debacle. That's got to be stressful.
I've never had a problem getting a call back using their chat bot. Make sure your phone isn't auto rejecting calls that aren't from numbers in your address book.
That being said, this is probably going to above the pay grade of the average CSR you talk to. You will likely have to escalate the issue to a higher level, due to the value of goods you are dealing with.
Hopefully you've insured this for the full value, I think that's going to be the important part here.
