Buyer return who pays ship fee
Buyer purchased item, buyer changed mind 10 days after receiving, due to found cheaper elsewhere.
Under my Listing I do accept returns as buyer pays return shipping. (Changed due to Which I thought may help with the lowball offers). I guess my question is upon receiving item from buyer back today. (In perfect condition safely packed). Do I deduct the shipping fee? Or was that done automatically thru EBay as they printed the label thru eBay but I did not send the label. I have been trying to read and figure this out. Just looking for a little clarification. I do not want to upset buyer and want to send the right funds back.
Thank you

Your buyer will pay for the return label back. That does not come out of your funds. Once you approve the return, the buyer can buy a label from eBay or they can buy it at the counter and pay more. Their choice. Once you have the item back, there will be a toggle button button beside the original shipping amount the buyer paid (this may be different from the cost of the label you bought). You can hit the toggle button to decide whether or not you want to return the original shipping. Separately, can deduct a portion of the refund for the cost of the item if it is returned to you in a different condition. There is a text box you can type in so you can state why you deducted or didn't refund something. So for the original shipping, I normally put something like, "Cost of item refunded, but original shipping charge of $X.XX was withheld due to this being a remorse return."
Personally, I don't - ever - return original shipping on remorse returns. I'm not taking a hit for the buyer simply because they no longer want the item. There may be some sellers who are worried they will make the buyer mad if you withhold the original shipping. I don't sweat that.
@12345jamesstamps The last few returns I've had opened, eBay has not held on to any funds. I've got a $40 return open now and I don't have any funds on hold.

·10 months agoNo refunds on hold can usually mean it's a frivolous refund where the buyer usually will not win.
I have had a few buyers open claims after 90-160+ days of a purchase(s).
eBay allows buyers to open claims...doesn't mean the buyer(s) will win.
Unless you don't pay close attention to open claims...meaning looking at your eBay a lot you won't notice what happens.
I tend to look at my 'available funds' a lot from my iPhone eBay APP which gets to that in a few seconds...if I am line at a store or something.
An eBay claim can be open for 90 days or such...funds might get 'hold' for just that one day.
The next day eBay takes the 'hold' on funds off...probable artificial intelligence notices the dumb eBay claim and takes the hold on funds off the next day.
Maybe I spend too much time on my iPhone looking at eBay.😆

·10 months agoWhen there is an open claim it shows the amount of funds on hold I thought...and wouldn't that be the refund?
Changing the amount that needs to be refunded...would that not be considered the refund?

·10 months agoWhen refunding, there is a toggle you can 'turn on' to 'refund' the original shipping paid...or not. It's up to you on a 'remorse' return.
I never refund shipping $$ on remorse returns (well, used to, now selling in Parts/Access who knows??)
