Buyer refused package
Summary: avitello1 described a situation where a buyer requested to return an item after changing their mind, despite the seller's no-return policy. The buyer mixed up the seller with another vendor and returned the package, which was unopened. Advice from other participants included deducting shipping costs and refunding the balance, highlighting eBay's policies on refused packages, and preparing for a possible payment dispute. Others suggested accepting the return, checking the condition, and relisting the item to avoid further disputes.
I had a buyer ask to cancel an item because they found the other one they had purchased, but it had already been shipped. He then requested a return for the item because he changed his mind. I refused it since I have it stated I dont accept returns unless the item is damaged or there is some other problem. He started complaining because the item we sold was used, but it wasnt. He keeps telling us about the problem with the item. So we told him to just send it back and he said he did. It arrived in the mail today and it was return to sender and never opened. I think he is mixing up us with the other seller he purchased the first item from with his messages. I dont know how to proceed. I dont want to give him a refund because he found a sneaky way of returning an item when we dont accept returns, but I dont want him to leave bad feedback, especially since he seems to be mixing us up with the other seller. Any advice?

Why fight the inevitable?

·1 month agoYou don't have to refund on a refused package. Those are eBay rules. Print out copies of all the tracking info. You might need it for a later case.
