Buyer messaged me 6 weeks ago about a return and is now responding and asking for return.
So, i had a customer send me a message on the 14th of February telling me there was a part of a tool he bought that is stuck. I told him open a return and will give him a full refund. its now about 6 weeks or so later and he just messaged me back telling me he has it packed up and asking me how to return it. its well over the 30 days or is it 45 days? its like a day or two under 45 days. Also he is telling me he has it all apart and packed up. I will take the return but i am not sure if I have to of if he still can. any info on the situation be great.
I did tell him to try to open a return and if it allows him to i will accept the return but i said there might be issues since its been so long. I also asked for it in the same condition it came in. if there was a part stuck leave the part stuck. if it was stuck when i sent it to you send it back the same way.
The item is transitional wood plane. What bothers me is that its not stuck, i have pics of the parts taken off the tool. the blade and lever cap from a wood plane. What scares me about taking this return is that he broke it not knowing how to use the blade.
A quick story about my only return, so I had one person make a return before and it went as bad as it could go, the guy sent me back a different tool and had the parts of my tool all listed individually on his eBay store. eBay gave me my money back and gave him his money back. I was shocked they did that. The plane that i sold was a router plane and i showed the rep after that he has them for sale on his site and they did nothing they paid him back and let him sell my stuff, yes i got my money but he made out. I caught him red handed cause he asked a question about a splash of pain on a part and I told him is was a splash of paint. well the parts he had for sale all had the same paint marks in the same places and same color. so it was 100% mine, even the blade the black patina marks were all in the same place. he won the item cheap returned it send me back a plane that was all taken apart and new not old. crazy, and not something i deal with on the regular.

·3 years ago@incrediblefinds199 tell the "buyer" to open a return request.
IF eBay will let them open it then you can decide how to respond.
Dont get into anything with them. Dont keep messaging back and forth.
eBay will not stop the buyers from doing what happened the last time and it could happen again...

OP3 years agoYeah so it turns out after talk with eBay its past any window they can make a return or claim. I would never get into anything with them or any buyer. If I come across a angry person I send them a professional message and that's it. Thanks for your feedback!

OP3 years agoWell here is a update, the buyer Finally did make a return, So I guess they can request it but past the timeline that eBay can step in. The guy did say its taken apart and packed up. It was up to me if i wanted to accept the request. I accepted the return and told him to send it to me not taken apart and in the same condition it was sent in and asked if there was any restoration done the day I wrote the OG post and what was disassembled. no answer. We will see when I get it back, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. I know that I sold the plane for 100 and the parts alone I can get much more money and more universal with other planes by the same maker so should be easy to part out but was a rare plane and should not be parted with. I hope its in the great shape that I sent it in.

·3 years agoPersonally, I would accept the return (even if customer is past 30 days). If you refuse return...customer will just go to credit card company and "reverse payment" (keep item and your money).
Good luck with this...

OP3 years agoAs stated i am trying to accept the item, i talked with eBay and they said its past the return window. I never planned on refusing the return but the buyer is giving me limited info and slow slow slow communication on his part. Just a FYI they can only file a charge back with there card and eBay managed payments has seller protection against that. I have a couple accounts but I deal with it about once a month a credit card charge back and never have they held any money but it does show in disputes/cases but does not count towards our performance. it takes like 6 months for them to clear out though. They will end up with the item but that's fine if I got paid. They can only make certain claims with there card like they never purchased it aka unauthorized purchase. or the item they paid for never received. but if they did play that off, there is a email from them confirming they got the item and it also shows that they knew the item was purchased. i just dealt with two chargebacks one was several items and guy even made another account to tell me that was him and was his ex wife made a claim on all the stuff he purchased. that all went fine all closed no money lost, took a while to close. then i had another item on a international order, they guy claimed he never received the item but it shows he picked it up from customs. they closed that like instantly but the other instance, took like 6 months before it closed. it was a lot of stuff and expensive stuff. no lost money. I try to take care of everyone but sometimes its impossible. see my feedback got the extra mile on everything. Thanks for the feedback though!!!
