Buyer making a complaint with WRONG item
A buyer is messaging me saying they purchased a medium sized jacket but received a small instead, and sent me a picture of the tag showing size small. Only problem is, I have multiple photos showing a size medium for that item and know for certain that I sent them a medium as I had no other sizes for this jacket.
What I suspect might be happening is that this jacket runs a bit small at 40 inches across the chest which is similar to most brands’ small. I provided detailed photos of chest, length, and sleeve measurements in the original listing. I think they may have bought a small from another buyer and realized it was too tight, purchased a medium from me, and now they’re trying to send me back the wrong size.
They are passed the return period, so what do I do to resolve this without:
1. losing my money
3. inviting negative feedback

·1 year agoI'd say "ooohhhh nooooo this is too bad it's outside of the window you can initiate a return. It's also not my jacket because the one I sent you was a medium. So I have no clue what you are trying to do here but it has nothing to do with me. Thank you! Have a good one! my friend!"
then they will say "the jacket was a small"
I would say " yes that is the main issue here isn't it because I sent a medium"
this would go back and forth until they give up. or just block them.

·1 year agoIf they are past the 30 days from delivery, they can't file an eBay case. They could still file a charge back if paid by credit card. They can still leave feedback. Clothing does have to file and that can be a problem with mail order.
I would not reply and see what happens next. Depending on how they word the feedback, you might get it removed. One Neg won't kill sales anyway.

But Ebay won't get involved, it's up to the seller, what they want to do..

OP1 year agoThanks for the advice. I did send them a message saying the item they photographed did not match the item sent nor the item in the photos of the original listing. They have not replied and it has been several months. Looks like the buyer has either found that they were mistaken or has been caught in the act.
