Why eBay continues to get away with closing cases immediately on full refund payment received without verifying the item has been received back by the seller is hard to explain by fairness. eBay has chosen to give buyers who were given a refund, though there's no confirmation the return has been received or is in route back to the seller, an easy out that gives the buyer a profit twice the value of the item when there should have been no profit, if they simply choose to stop communicating and not send the item back. This is quite the incentive for the buyer to game the system. Fairness doesn't seem to be a guiding principle for eBay. A refund by the seller shouldn't be interpreted as agreement the transaction process has been completed and the case can be immediately closed.
