As a seller, will I be reimbursed?
Summary: kwristuh37 is concerned about issuing a refund for an item that was out of stock and worries about reimbursement from eBay. They note that the refund seems to be coming from their seller wallet, and they seek clarification before proceeding with the refund process. albertabrightalberta explains that the payment may be on hold and the refund would initially come from the seller's backup source, with funds released after the hold period ends.
So I am trying to issue a return for an item that turned out to be out of stock, and it was agreed upon that a cancellation and refund would work for both seller and buyer. Since there was never an order sent out as it was out of stock, I never received the payment - I receive that 2 days after delivery is confirmed usually.
I'm under the impression that it's going to be taken out of my seller wallet, and I just want to make sure that I will be reimbursed for this... I know sometimes these things can fall through the cracks with eBay... and especially want to make sure as they are having me refund the shipping that the buyer paid for (which was never used.) I went to issue the refund a few minutes ago, and am holding off until I can figure out the answer to this in case there's some other way I'm supposed to be doing it.

·1 week agoIf the buyer paid for the item, you did receive payment. Although payment was made, it probably had a hold on it.
As such, if you had to do an OOS cancellation, the refund would go from your backup source to the buyer. Then, after the hold period expires, the funds are released to you.
