An item I sold was not delivered to the auction winner and then showed up again on Ebay from another
I sold a watch on April 1, 2026 to a buyer in Italy. The buyer paid for the watch, but international customs in Italy refused to accept it for some reason. EBay refunded the buyer's money, but let me keep the sale and did not return the watch to me. I wondered what happened to the watch, so I searched Ebay listings and I see that the exact same watch including my original listing photos was sold again on May 13, 2026, by a different eBay seller. I messaged the new seller and asked how they came to acquire the watch, and they only replied to say that the auction was over and that the watch was not available.
So I'm curious to how another seller came to acquire the watch. The photos that were used to sell it are my photos that I shot when I listed the watch. I don't see any other listings of this watch being sold between my sale on April 1st and a sale by the other seller on May 13th. How did they get it?

·4 months agoWhen we ship to eIS hub, and the item is received, ebay is now 100% in charge of that item. If for whatever reason it gets returned, the item now belongs to ebay to do with as they feel best. Usually the items will be sold to recoup lost money from the refund, as mentioned by @kensgiftshop. Also, all the pix and listing details are property of ebay, too.

·4 months agoYes they do resell those items. I purchased such an item last week. The paperwork inside the box and covered over shipping label was how I found out. Those items end up in pallet lodes of merchandise other sellers buy and resell.
