Buyer selected "Wrong item sent" for a size issue for an item marked No Returns. Why am I required to pay return shipping?

I'm looking for advice from experienced sellers. I sold a pair of Solid Gold Diamond Earrings. The listing was clearly marked No Returns. The listing title also described them as "Small" earrings, and I included multiple photos showing their actual size, including photos next to a US quarter and photos held between my fingers for size reference. The buyer opened a return request with the reason: "Wrong item sent." However, the buyer's comment says: "These are too small. Like baby earrings." So the issue is clearly about size, not that I shipped the wrong item. My listing included multiple photos, including: close-up photos the earrings next to a US quarter photos held between my fingers for size reference I sent the buyer two polite messages explaining that I shipped the correct item and asking them to confirm they received the correct earrings. I also explained that, since this is a size issue rather than "Wrong item sent," I believe the buyer should be responsible for return shipping. And the buyer has never responded. Also the an experienced reseller with approximately 7500 items sold. Because of that, I believe they understand how the ebay return system works. I contacted eBay Customer Support twice. Both representatives told me I must accept the return within 3 days, even though my listing was No Returns. The problem is that once I click Accept Return, the system automatically requires me to purchase the return shipping label. I don't have any option to dispute the incorrect return reason or make the buyer pay return shipping. I'm not refusing the return. I simply don't understand why I'm considered responsible when: I shipped the correct item. The buyer admitted the issue is the size. The listing was marked No Returns. This doesn't seem like a fair system because any buyer could simply select "Wrong item sent" instead of choosing the real reason. Has anyone experienced this? Is there any way to have eBay review the return reason before I pay return shipping? Does "No Returns" offer any protection in cases like this? What would you do in this situation? Thank you very much for any advice.

eBay easily opens doors to scam international sellers !

Scenario: Automotive product manufactured and shipped from Turkey to Mexico. Product made to customers specification, color and shape choosed by buyer - Not stocked items. How to use is clearly shown on the photos in the listing. Buyer claimed, the item does not fit and sent photos of a wrong installation. Buyer received a photo installation guide but he is not willing to proceed. Return impossible because of already payed customs fees, taxes, shipping and a return will explode costs. Buyer got a full refund without returning the item. I have contacted eBay several times and appealed the outcome. No chance for the seller! I showed eBay proofs that the buyer made a wrong installation and is not willing to cooperate. eBay supporters clearly did not made the deciscion right, if so anyone of the human assitants would see buyers photo of a wrong installation. How can it be so easy for a buyer to get a full refund on international transactions and keep the product too? I really wanna try it on my next international buy, just file a complain 'Item does not fit / Item is broken' and receive a full refund.

Seller Willing to Refund But He's Locked Out Of System

I purchased a large 110 year old Roseville Mostique planter from seller. It arrived with no packing material and was broken into 4 pieces. I knew it was broken because I could hear it rattling around when we picked it up from Post Office. I immediately sent pictures of the broken planter to the seller and he said he would refund me immediately. I threw the item away because it was worthless and not safe having pottery shards lying around. At first he offered just the price of the vase without tax and shipping because he said I could go thru the post office and get the 100.00 insurance. But he didn't tell me that until I declined the offer of just the price of the planter. Now we are stuck with a return item and a return shipping label with nothing to ship. He is willing to refund me the full amount but he says he's locked out of the system. I told him I could just send him an empty box but I don't want him to pay for that (shipping was 52.99) and he said not to do that anyway. Ebay ai is of no help whatsoever and it's been 7 days since the return was generated. I can't reach a live agent. Anybody have a solution?

Is there any seller protection for returns?

I am just after my first return in my several years of selling on eBay and the situation that happened is absurd.   What happened: -We sell the buyer a 100% brand new and working product. We happen to be its manufacturer, so we have standard photo documentation showing the product's condition and operation at the time of shipment. The condition of the item at the time of shipment, showing at the same time that it works (i.e. lights up, this is the marker to display the green line):   -The buyer receives the product and believes it does not work. I provide the buyer with photos to confirm that the product was working when it was shipped. I am also trying to establish with the buyer how he connected the product, but the buyer does not answer my questions at all. All I receive from him are requests for a “return label” and a “refund.” -The buyer reports the return to eBay with the reason “Not working or defective.” We provide the buyer with a return label, at our expense. -We receive the return shipment. We inspect the item, registering everything. It turns out that the item just works normally and is not defective . At the same time, the returned item bears clear signs of use beyond the standard inspection of the item - the label from the item torn off, damaged and then glued in another place, burn marks (!) on the metal case. Condition of the item upon return: -I reported the problem to eBay, attached photos and video showing the condition of the item at the time of shipment and after return, and photos and video showing that the item works after return despite the buyer's claims that it does not work at all. -eBay decision made in about 5 minutes (?) - buyer gets 100% refund (???). -I filed an appeal, decision further upheld. I received information that the buyer reported a problem that the item does not work, so according to eBay's rules, we were the ones who had to embrace the shipment to him. The shipment in tracking has a status of delivered, so the buyer is to receive a refund. -We continue to send emails to technical support, no change. -I still get information that I can report the problem with the buyer if I think he abused the right of return and the matter will be investigated. I did so, without hearing back from eBay for a few days.   Some quotes from eBay support: "eBay’s return process is designed in a way that when a buyer returns an item, they are entitled to get a refund." "eBay doesn't have any physical contact with the item, we are not in the position to determine who caused the problem." "Please understand that we have kept our original decision since the return tracking shows successful delivery." "It is good to hear that the item has been successfully returned, and it was in the same condition in which you sent it." - lol of course it isn't, did anyone even look at the pictures we sent?   At the end of the day: -We are left with a product whose condition can safely be described as “Item is damaged, scratched, defective, or requires service or repair.” -We paid for (international) shipping both ways. -I see “Order earnings -EU €97.26” on the order page, because since we asked eBay to step in, we won't get a commission refund (???) -The only thing I still lack to be 100% happy here is negative feedback from a buyer.   Is this how returns from the seller are standard? Is there anything else we can do about it? Do we simply have to factor such a risk into the cost of business? The buyer can simply destroy the product, and in the end we will still have to reimburse him 100% of the cost and still cover the shipping costs both ways?   Sellers, a question for you - how do you deal with such cases?  What else can we do to avoid such unpleasantness in the future? For now, we are doing enough to send new and working goods and ship on time, but I can see that this is not enough.   Thank you for your help, Tomasz

Getting a refund from an item that was not only late, believed to not have sent but was also a counterfeit

I have been trying really hard to get a refund for an item that was sold out of China. The reason I haven't been able to get a refund for it is because at first I was trying to get a refund for it because it had not arrived. It had a tracking number but when you clicked on the link it took you to a website that did not look too reputable nor did it show the status of the item that was supposedly on its way. After waiting three weeks and still no status update I filed a request for refund under the did not receive category. Ebay told me to wait a little longer which I did, then the package did finally arrive and I jotted that I did want to keep the item and the case was closed. I packaged the gift and gave it to my niece for her birthday just to find out that she opened it and it was apparently pretty obvious that they were fake. Now ebay doesn't let me open a new refund case nor is there an email to talk to them directly. Very disappointed to say the least.

Item sent back but no refund and the seller doesn’t answer anymore

Hello, I bought a phone « never used » that was in fact used, so I open a return request and the seller offered a partial refund wich was not useful because the phone had too many default to keep it, so I asked for an exchange instead in order to have a good phone as I paid for, he told me that ebay doesn’t do exchanges so in order to do that I had to close my ebay return request first. it’s a long story but in short he let me understood that he was sending me the new phone day after day and I never received it, and I found his behavior more and more suspicious so that finally when I cornered him about the delivery he answered that I have to return the item first and then I can have an exchange or a total refund. I asked how he will refund me because he made me close the ebay return, and he patronized me that it’s very simple he can do it any time, but the screenshot he showed me was a possibility of refund that was more than 70€ less than what I have paid, so I asked him what about the rest for a « total refund », and he never answered me since, it was the 25 of June. I showed my good will and sent back the item, he has received it on last monday , and I still have no news and no refund. What can I do to get back my money, or at least some of it? I can’t find a phone number for ebay help, I am not on the official return process so all the i.a answers don’t help, I need a human agent.

Refund for item not as described without returning

I received an item that is not as described. I contacted the seller several times and received a reply only to my first message. I asked for a refund. If the seller wanted the item back, I asked for a prepaid label. (Based on what I read, the seller pays the return shipping if the item is not as described.) I tried to go through the process for a refund, but I was given only two choices: eBay credit when the item is dropped off (which it won't be) or credit to a credit card that is no longer valid. I deleted that credit card from my account and added a valid card. But the 'return' process still shows the old card number, and I know I can't cancel that return request and open another one. I also want to give negative feedback, but I think I should wait until this is resolved. I don't know what to do next. I can't figure out how to get eBay involved. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Diane

      Would you report this buyer?

Buyer messaged me that their item is missing its sticker that is clearly shown in the listing's photos. I've never reported a buyer for "false claims" and wondering if it's even worth it or if anyone has seen results in doing that. Any help appreciated.
