When is Ebay going to fix tricking customers into buying something they don't want, then cancelling?
Item cancellations are skyrocketing. Returns are skyrocketing. Apparently, there is a bug in the Ebay purchase program which fools customers into buying something they do not want. If the customer catches it, they cancel it, if not, they return the item. Below are just some of what customers have written to me in the last two weeks. This wastes sellers time, falsely inflates Ebay sales, upsets customers, and sellers lose money on double shipping if returned. This needs to be fixed yesterday. I would think after all these years, bugs like this in the Ebay program would have been worked out.
1)"When you go to pay for item x, a screen pops up with a similar item or another item with a pay now block. If you don't read the ad carefully you will be purchasing the other item rather than item XYou have to check off a statement in the payoff block to get back to your original block x item payment page. This has happened to me several times - it very deceptive. Thanks for your interest and hope you can remedy this process. I did not want to buy this card. I was dupe into it when I made a payment for another card, Joe Perry which I thought I was pauying for....Please cancel this sale of the 1952 Phil Rizzuto.. Thank you very much...Don't know but it should be reported to them for correction. It's a bummer. Thanks for your positive response."
2) "I was paying for another card and this card, which I’ve never seen before ever, wound up in the basket while I was paying. Should I contact eBay concerige, or can you handle the cancellation"
3) "Thanks. I have no idea how it happened. I’ve never even looked at a 1960 Maris before"
4) "Hi, I'm so sorry! I unintentionally clicked "buy it now" for this card. I was buying something else, and this popped up. I thought I was clicking on the other item."
5) "I did not buy this item. Please cancel this and refund my money!!!!!"
6) "Cancel order please , accidentally placed order"

OP2 years agoCustomer comments on cancellations from last few day. One was not caught until after we shipped so they will return and we lose money on paying shipping both ways. It is getting to the point where we will have to email every buyer who purchases from us to confirm if they actually want what they purchased.
1)"Exactly, I paid for an item and the screen popped up to confirm payment and it was attached to the Wilhelm. I wasn't even buying a Wilhelm. I thought I was hitting the pay tab for the stamp I bought"
2)"It was the second card on my search, I purchased the first card and my phone flipped to this card and I didn't notice it until I completed the sale. Fat fingered my phone and completed the sales before I noticed."

OP2 years agoSeveral more cancellations this weekend and below is what one buyer said. Sure hope that this message gets to upper management at Ebay so something gets done.
"I've issued a cancel for this order. Not sure why it happened. I was checking out on another order and this popped up but I hit <enter> too fast because that's normal for me. Lately I've been seeing other "offers" suggested and deleted them, but I missed this one. I apologize for my quickness. Please cancel this order ok"
"Very much appreciate the response. It's like EBAY is using an algorithm to think about the "kind" of cards you want and suggests them - while closing a deal with a completely different seller, condition, etc..... I wish they would stop that"

·2 years agoWhen ebay started putting other sellers listings on MY listing item page that is when I saw my cancel rate shoot way up.
