We ended the listing only to have to reappear in our inventory as sold.
Summary: mhughban reported an issue where an item they ended before their April 6 inventory appeared as sold on eBay in May, despite not being on the inventory report. They canceled the order and refunded the buyer, suspecting changes to the "Inactive" tab caused the error. This glitch has also been noted by nat-bla, who experienced items listed as sold and unsold simultaneously, causing confusion with customers. Both are frustrated with the inability to contact eBay technical support regarding the issue.
We did our semi-annual inventory on April 6, 2026. We ended one listing before the inventory, only to have it reappear as sold on May 1. Our inventory download includes our SKU numbers. This item was not on the inventory report from ebay Apr 6. Something funky is going on with the change to "Inactive" tab. We had to notify the buyer it wasn't in inventory, cancel the order, and then do a refund. Do we need to re-inventory?? Before anyone suggests we "relisted" the item, we didn't. It was donated, it was old inventory we didn't think would sell. We suspect it's because of the changes to the "inactive" tab. The item shows an original listing date of Dec 25, 2025, so we couldn't have relisted it after April 6, 2026. We wanted to send this to ebay technical support, but that apparently is no longer an available option. We aren't newbies, 25 years as a reseller, TR+.

·2 weeks agoEbay has a sold/unsold glitch in their system. No sure what allows that to happen but I have seen an item listed as sold and unsold simultaneously on my site. Ebay denies it is their/a problem. I would like to have them explain that to a dissatisfied customer when I don't have their item because it has already sold. Makes me look like an idiot.
