We do not support this bank. Please add a different bank account.
Whenever I try to add my bank of america account for payouts. I get hit with the same error message everytime, I’ve tried the app and browser version as-well. I have a wire routing number and a paper and electronic routing number, which one do I use and why won’t ebay accept my bank when it says they do?

·3 years agoDoes anyone have any update on this? Are Bank of America accounts created in Georgia still an issue as far as linking/receiving payments with ebay? I may be facing the same issue. Ebay is saying they sent micro deposits to my BoA account but I have not seen them. It was made in Georgia but I no longer reside there. Thanks.

·3 years agoIts still an issue for me. I just tried again to add my BofA account and it did not take it. I agree with everyone here and vote class action lawsuit for false information, misleading answers, and business malpractice. This is ridiculous the way eBay has gone. I'm almost to the point where I'm just going to close my eBay account and leave this place because I don't wish to do business with fraudulent businesses. And honestly in my opinion, if the claims eBay is making about the increased fraudulent activity tied to BofA routing numbers in Georgia is to be believed, that sounds like an eBay issue, not a BofA issue, that they themselves need to get fixed.

·3 years agoEverybody: file money owed with your state attorney general, consumer protection division. Escheatment here in CA takes three years, so I will wait on my check from the state or for this company to fix their broken system, whichever comes first. Back in NC, the state attorney general actually went directly to a misbehaving company for me and got the $65 refund I was owed, no big deal. This is outrageous.

·3 years agoI had this same issue and found out the issue, no thanks to eBay support. After calling many times and entering in the correct details in manually to no avail, I broke down and called my bank to set up a new checking account since eBay said that was the only solution. They told me that even though my bank (Bank of America) was approved they could not set up a payout with my routing number. When I asked my bank if the new routing number would be the same they informed me that routing numbers are dependent on the state that you create the bank account in. Since I created my bank account in a different state than I live in now, it did give me a new routing number. I'm assuming that there's some eBay system check/glitch that does not allow the routing number state to be different than the billing address state. I added in my new checking account details and had no issues. I've never had an issue like this before and have multiple other linked accounts/deposits with my original checking account, I can't believe eBay's experience was so bad. Even a helpful error message would be better but instead they've lost my business for life. Glad I can get this payment after weeks and close out the accounts.

Thank you for this additional information. It sounds plausible that a mismatch between bank routing number and personal address could raise a red flag for something. However, most of the issues have arisen in Georgia, so there seems to be more to it than just a change of address, although this can certainly be the basis for some of these issues.

·3 years agoMy bank account was created in Georgia so I’m sure it’s the same issue. Unfortunately 3-4 eBay customer service representatives are not aware of this problem. There definitely needs to be a fix from the eBay side instead of telling users that their account is invalid.

·3 years agoSo you have to call ebay from the add bank account page, right sife "help." they have to manaully request your account get added here in GA. Wait 24 hours and do it again. rep said this happens a lot. I just put my request in.

·3 years agoI was told ONLY BOAs in Georgia were the issue--"too many routing numbers". I opened another bank account just for eBay. And now having trouble with eBay not allowing me to stop auto-list. I ended an auction item last night and scheduled it for the next month when I return from a vacay. And it re-listed effective immediately again. Will be glad when all of my auto resists expire. Back to the "do not support" issue. I have a sneaking suspicion it is more about a Bank not giving some sort of discounted rates.

·3 years agoI am in Georgia and I have the same error. I was able to setup a Debit Card for the same BoA account that's not supports and it worked fine. A Debit Card can be used for payouts, so... this is a valid workaround, as I assume you should have a debit card somewhere for your checking account. I hope it works for you.

Thank you for that info. Have you actually received your payouts?
@chrislak59
Sorry I missed your last post. Your information is very interesting. The fact that eBay tries to send money to your account, but it fails in your case and doesn't fail for your husband, sounds like the bank has problems.
Do the funds of the failed transfer remain in your eBay account, or does eBay think they are paid? There was earlier discussion of fraud associated with that routing number. If the transfers succeed and then disappear, that would be a huge issue, and I could see why eBay would block that bank as a fraud risk.

·3 years agoI just set it up and confirmed the micro-deposits. Never got this far. If I hit any problem, it would be a different one that the issue with this thread, which is "BoA not supported". It may be a while until I sell something, but will let you all know if it didn't work. If you are having the issue that brought you here, then it's worth giving it a try.

·3 years agoOk so what we can do with those lists ?
Do you really think if we have a bank account already , and we are selling on ebay , none of us able to find a bank ? You would be a great addition to the ebay agents team 🙂
i think everyone can find a bank 🙂 that's not the issue here !!!
can you tell us please what banks are working with ebay payment system ? Actually the " member of leadership in the Payments department " from ebay wasn't able to give a answer to this very simple question ! Im sure you know , so go ahead 🙂

I provided the list so Georgia sellers could select a local bank and look up the routing number. Isn't that what customer service asked? Isn't that where your conversation led?
If a seller selects a bank or two, it is very easy to get a routing number without opening an account. It appears from your chat with "a member of the leadership in the payments department" that the routing number would suffice in determining if the bank will work for eBay.
I completely understand your annoyance with eBay for not divulging whatever strategies they use. I find it less frustrating to pursue solutions that do not involve trying to twist eBay's arm. Thus a list.

·3 years ago""It appears from your chat with "a member of the leadership in the payments department" that the routing number would suffice in determining if the bank will work for eBay.""
yeah , you right ...
some ppl have the same chase routing number as others have , but for some reason its not working for everyone
My hubby BOA account have the same routing number as i have , that account opened at the same location as what i have , its exactly the same kind of checking account as i have ...
His BOA account working fine with ebay payment system , but i have issues , just like another few hundred ppl.
what appears from the chat with " "a member of the leadership in the payments department"" , she wasn't able to give a straight answer at all what bank working and whats not . If she know the routing numbers whats work and whats not, its mean she must to know the banks also !!! , not just would be easy to tell ppl in GA : hey guys this is the bank we supporting in GA and here is all the routing number you have to look for , if you want your own money 🙂
there is a another very interesting part of that chat ...
And one more thing when im adding my BOA bank account , its actually already added and accepted by ebay ,and ebay keep sending a microdeposits to that account , what never arrived 🙂 they also keep sending my balance to the same BOA account what i was able to register online with ebay and accepted by ebay , they using that account to sending me my payout... but that paymnet never got to my BOA account.
"We have initiated the microdeposit process, two small deposits are on their way to your bank account. This could take 2-4 days. If you have already received them, you need to enter them so we can verify your bank account. "
and at the same time ebay keep sending me my payout, actually they sent me many times already , last time i received a ebay msg on feb 28th , your payout was sent .... i got this msg every 3-4 days in february , but the amount never ever hit my BOA account.

·3 years agoWow. I have been plagued by this for a long time (Georgia here). I ended up going with Capital One since I had a credit card there, but had to open another Ebay account and now have to do something again. Crazy... I spent month arguing with people on Ebay. I can't believe I only now found this link. Thanks

·3 years agoAfter 40 plus name changes and trying to get EBAY to bring over Middle Initial and "SR", it will not recognize my bank. This is some BullSh*T... Ebay should have programmers looking at this mess.
Does anyone know how to talk with EBAY LIVE? No one wants to pay fees for another Bank or Bank Card because of a programming issue.
Bottom Line -
It will NOT pull over Middle Initial (Even after clearing Cache files)
There is NO Entry point for SR, JR, III Etc.
HELP!!!! EBAY is holding users funding with clear line of site on how they will fix it....
dhbookds
·3 years ago@excalibur0911Try adding the Sr/Jr/III after the name in the last name box...........
I had to change from John Doe to John H Doe..........and added the middle initial to the lst name box and it worked fine.........
That said..........not sure how it's going to help if they don't recognize the bank. They (at the time I signed up) would not ok some credit unions

For the past year, eBay has been rejecting the BofA routing number for accounts in Georgia and telling sellers to use another bank.

Customer service is able to help with the more basic issues. They may have to escalate more difficult questions to a supervisor.
Scroll to the bottom of this help page and click the "Contact us" button. Type "agent" into the chat that opens.

·3 years agoInteresting information uncovered....
After speaking with (2) international Ebay Customer Reps and (1) US Based eBay reps, I have solved the Bank of America issue.
Ebay CS explained to me on a call that they block Banks in individual states based on some random classification they do internally. They add and limit banks by state without notifying Sellers.
In my state of Georgia, the Rep told me, (Bank of America, Chase & Wells Fargo), CANNOT be linked to an eBay sellers account. When asked how do sellers know this, their response was, you have to open and account and use the submission screen. I specifically asked why this is explained on their site and where can sellers find a list on supported banks, the customer Rep said there is no list, just Ebay Reps know internally.
In a nut shell:
- Ebay randomly blocks Bank in individual states, without notifying sellers
- Ebay does not share this information openly
- Ebay will not supply a list of "Blocked" banks
- Ebay insists if sellers want their funds, they must provide acceptable bank account details that are supported by ebay, even though you do not know Ebay, banks are supported or not supported.
Side learning - Ebay had no problem taking selling fees from my Bank of America account via PayPal within seconds of the completion of a transaction, but I, (the seller), can use either to collect my funds.... Yet more big tech being less than transparent, disingenuous, and fraudulent...
(((Heads off to find banks that offer free checking, with no minimum balances, that may conform to Ebays acceptable funding practices for the State of Georgia)))

·3 years agoThat doesn't sound right at all.
devon@ebay Can you comment on post 15?
shipscript
·3 years ago@rfmtm
That post sounds very much like what we have gleaned over the past year or so. I would not, however, agree that eBay blocks banks randomly. There is some analysis in play, probably at Adyen, that decides whether there are significant issues (laundering, defaults, shenanigans, anyone's guess) within some bank routing numbers.
wastingtime101
·3 years agoI agree with this, and we've seen similar reports in the past. Back in July one poster said on a discussion about BoA being rejected (link), "I just got off the phone with "eric in Leadership of the Payment Department" and they have flagged the 061 routing number as a Fraud risk so that bans all of the state of Georgia"
Obviously it's a fraud concern, but the part that's frustrating for eBay sellers is they're given no guidance at all about why their bank account is being rejected. They're told to use a different account or to open a new account without being told why most of the time, or which banks won't work for their location.
