Wayback Machine
ebay.com (and the other eBay websites) have been unable to be archived on the Wayback Machine since at least last month.
It says Access Denied
You don't have permission to access on this server
Here are two examples

Can this be fixed?

·4 months agoIt cannot be fixed due to an annual increase in system activity experienced during this period, which has caused processing delays on the Wayback Machine.

·4 months agoIf I had an issue with the Wayback Machine, I would go straight to Mr. Peabody and allow him to sort it out.

·4 months agoI'm curious here.
What is it exactly that you want to archive and for what reason?..........................

item details as future citations for after they're sold and/or completed. I think the website's security is picking up the Wayback Machine as a robot.

"Item details" ... you mean you are trying to save individual item listing pages?
As far as I know, eBay listing pages have never been saved by the Wayback Machine. They are definitely not something that they crawl and save organically. You were trying to save them manually? Why?
The error message is the same as the error message that was frequently displayed during the episode that was widely described at the time (04/27/2026) as being a DDoS attack on eBay.

eBay saves the listing page for a purchase automatically, which is accessible by the buyer who can see exactly what the listing page looked like when they made their purchase. So the buyer would not need this to be saved. Who would need this?

You are extremely well informed and very knowledgeable for a brand new eBay account (since Apr-25-26) with no history on eBay. Just before the intermittent issue that eBay posted about on 04-27-2026. Which caused the same error message as you are now getting on archive.org (the Wayback Machine).

What's the rest of the story here?
Who are you?

OP4 months agoI created my eBay account to purchase a few books and I didn't know about the DDoS until about a week after it happened.
I know more about archive.org than I do about eBay. Anyone can manually archive a URL. The DDoS is probably either still impacting the Wayback Machine's IP address or the ebay.com's website captcha is messing it up. This is a common problem on the Wayback Machine with other websites as well.
