Users should control Recommendations

Having the app automatically act as a crawler, looking for items that are in some way similar to your searches, that’s not a bad thing. That sounds great. That’s what computers are for! But the fact that some algorithm decides, based on its own weird ass criteria, what it should recommend out of the millions of objects that are posted on eBay, and we, the users don’t have any mechanism built-in to the interface, that we can use to guide those recommendations, that’s just stupid. I mean, we are stupid for allowing ourselves to be inundated with this garbage. It just makes the recommendation algorithm a crap product. It should be better at doing something useful. Seems like it would be really easy to fix this, hey eBay, could you please fix this stupid problem?

·1 week agoI agree with this 100%, I'll show co-workers and friends and family something on my phone that I've found on eBay and worry that they'll see something and get the wrong idea. Buy something for a now ex girlfriend one time and now my feed is flooded with skimpy things I don't want my boss or dad to see :D
