Unsolicited AI Keyword Injection/Stuffing is Mis-categorizing Listings and Harming Search Visibility
Summary: vintageposterprints reports an issue with eBay's AI listing tools, which supposedly override seller input by injecting unrelated keywords into listings, resulting in keyword stuffing and harming search visibility. a_c_green requests examples, and vintageposterprints provides some instances of unrelated keywords in their listings. a_c_green suggests that a possible cause might be the carryover of Item Specifics from previous listings rather than AI issues, advising that these specifics should be cleared out when using 'Sell Similar' operations.
I am writing to report an ongoing, severe technical issue regarding eBay’s automated AI listing tools overriding seller data and injecting unrequested keywords.
As a seller auditing large volumes of inventory, I am finding that the AI tool consistently forces keywords and descriptors into listings that:
Were never entered, requested, or approved by the seller.
Have no relation to the actual items being sold, creating a widespread "keyword stuffing" effect.
Actively push listings out of relevant buyer searches due to algorithmic misalignment.
The Impact on Sellers: Reviewing listings day after day to root out these automated errors wastes hours of valuable operational time. When the system forces inaccurate terms onto thousands of items, it degrades catalog accuracy and sabotages search performance.
Requested Fix: Sellers urgently need a permanent, account-wide toggle to completely opt out of automated AI keyword injection, ensuring that our listings remain accurate and under our direct control.

OP3 weeks agoTo be honest, there are so many, and I use bulk edit and really do not want to have my info out there for all.
But here are some examples: you have to go into the listing and see the keywords that have nothing to do with that particular listing.. I only have time to list these..but it shows that just the noticeable ones that usually have 10 to 12 non essential keywords are for sure listings with the AI stuffing.

·3 weeks agoOkay, I don't think that's AI slop; it looks more like Item Specifics that were brought forward from a previous listing but not cleared out when that new listing's IS values were plugged in. For example, the 1920 Jello ad has relevant IS values up front, trailed by a number of other values in the same field that do not appear to have anything to do with Jello, though they could apply to one or more of your other listings.
I don't know what your listing process entails, but I know that if you do a Sell Similar operation off of one of your own listings, everything is copied forward into the new listing from the previous one. If you do a Sell Similar off of someone else's listing instead ("Sell one like this"), you do not get their photos or their description text, but you do get all their Item Specifics, so you need to clean out theirs if the values do not apply to yours.

OP3 weeks agoWell, I disagree. I have also spoken to an eBay rep, and they are aware of this and wanted me to get in touch with thech. Overall, I find that for any requested help or issues, somehow there seems to be some sort of excuse. I have been on eBay for over 15 years and this has never happened before. I do know what I should use for keywords, and this is not how I originally listed the items. I do not and have never in over 15 years on eBay listed off someone else's listings, but thanks anyway
